How comes British Award Shows are pathetic?

The National Television awards are truly awful the music cues are off and the award presenters are crap! Now I know it's older but look at the Golden Globes better cues and it doesn't look cheap.
My question is why don't British award shows try to look prestigious? The Bafta's the second most important award ( I'd say ) after The Oscars yet that it self looks cheap, especially when you have orange in the title and that awfully small stage which proceedings take place on there is no glitz and glamour like The Oscars it's a shame!

The US has a larger pool of quality shows to focus an entire awards ceremony on that deserve it.
I can't think of many large award shows over there that celebrate shows like Towie (which won a bloody Bafta!).
The ones with tables around the room, alcohol, presenters having a laugh and joke.
Not stuck in a stuffy theatre.
During the acceptance speech after a minute a little girl comes on stage and just keeps repeating "stop it, i'm bored" forcing the people to stop their speech and **** off off the stage
Googled it

Maybe they're tied to the BBC and channel 4. Doubt they'd be allowed.
A) Produced by ITV
and
Does not feature a single celebrity. Seriously look at tonight. Other than the likes of Lumley, The Osmands and McFly they were all a bunch of nobodys. A person on a soap is not a celebrity. They are a 'TV Star'.
Then you've got the fact that they rammed the ITV/Syco junk down our throats, etc.
Then theres the voting which you have to pay to do - so nobody bothers.
It's the same boring crap, just a different day. The same annoying people (e.g Dermot, Ant & Dec, etc), 'amazing' features all with X-Factor failures, etc.
There is plenty of contempt for awards ceremonies in the US. The Oscars are notorious for being dull, having terrible jokes, dreadful hosts and awarding only films nobody ever goes to see. Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood live blog of the Golden Globes is often worth a read if only to see her tear apart the whole charade. Sure, they all dress up and it all looks very good, but everyone knows it's a sham. Unlike the UK, the awards season is an industry in itself in Los Angeles. Executives spend more time campaigning than they do making films in January!
There's just a different culture in the UK. We don't watch stuffy awards shows just to see the stars - we have Royal Weddings for that! The BAFTA's are the most "professional" and have been known to draw some proper stars but don't rate as well as the NTA's. There's just not the same hooplah around industry awards over here. The ratings suggest that the public favour light hearted awards that honour shows they actually watch.
As far as I'm aware it's produced by Indigo Television.
Aren't TV stars what you'd expect to see at the National TELEVISION Awards?
Don't think Benedict Cumberbatch was there so thank goodness he didn't win.
I was really pleased Miranda Hart didn't turn up....her an actress? I don't think so. It didn't say much for the other nominations.
Well she is an actress. Maybe one you don't like, but she is. That's why she was hired for things like Not Going Out and Call the Midwife.
It tells me she must have an agent and maybe a contract and goes to auditions and gets cast, then gets paid for learning her lines and performing them. Actress I'd say.
They are HARDLY Superstars, lol!!!!
Dis you see him on IACGMOOH? He was up himself on that.
Doesn't that apply to all award shows?
The Oscars has been pretty awful any time that I have seen it - never had the patience to watch more than part.
