So does the phone look the same as the leaked photos?
The touchscreen phone is pretty much the same as the dev leaked photos and new photos show there's a white version as well. The physical keyboard version... nobody knows 100% if the leaked photos will replicate to the announced product.
I certainly no fanboy for any product but whilst the spec is pretty good I cant help feeling blackberry have missed the boat here.
If this had launched before windows 8 phone and all the bad press bb had from the server problems then i think it could have had a genuine chance of becoming the 3rd largest mobile os.
but now w8 has sucessfully launched and and quite a large % of consumer bb users have moved to other os I dont really see whats to gain by people either returning or going to bb for the 1st time.

Let's just wait and see. Wp8 doesn't have a big market share at all. RIM, the best they can hope for from this, is to get back in the mix. Thats a good place to be, after doing very little the past few years.

Yeah that was kind of my point. wp8 has been seen as launching sucessfully yet it has a small share of the market.
agree simply getting back in the mix would be a good place to be after the last few years
Hopefully for RIM the person presenting the launch today isnt the same person who was on 5 live breakfast this morning he was embarrassing.

No, it will be Thorsten Heinze, the new CEO should deliver the leynote, along with Vivek (something or other, cant remember the surname) and other RIM representatives.
The pressure is on. They know they have to deliver. Possibly the most pressured device launch for a very long time. There is very little margin for error.
I think these phones will be a success, everyone knows blackberry it has a strong identity just like Apple. It's not a mixed up mess built on 1000 handsets running 10 different versions of an OS. I believe this is going to hit Andriod hard.

WP8 has had very little success and not been able to penetrate the market it had targeted. The Nokia's have had recent problems and company's like Samsung have pulled out of making WP8 devices. Not much support for it at all.
At least RIM has a chance to make a dent in iPhone/Android sales and reaffirm their 3rd place position in the market.

Wow how wrong are you , thanks to W8P Nokia have just made there first profit in years and future forecasts are even higher .

I don't personally think it'll be a sustained increase every quarter and that blip (okay, I put my hands up and didn't realise Nokia had done pretty well in the last 3 months) might only be temporary.
Nokia have a lot more work to do to re-establish their brand unlike RIM who still have a thin thread within the market.

Like Microsoft Windows you mean? '98, 2000, XP, VIsta, 7, 8 machines still going strong out there.

It had a strong identity a few years ago. it doesn't at the minute hence why they are pinning all their hopes on bb10
Nokia had a strong identity like Blackberry but lost focus and now they are fighting for 3 place in the handset market which is incredible really.
I'm interested to hear what features RIM believe will make normal consumers/businesses want to return to them not just geeks like us on here :-)
LOL, My 13 year old daughter just text me, they've had to go via the German version of Google and some kids managed to get the launch event up in their IT lesson. I'm telling ya the 12-25 year olds are mad for these new Blackberrys.
It seems the BB10 delays were mostly down to ensuring massive support was in place before they launched. BB10 will launch with more apps than any other product ever.
So Blackberry had a choice, adopt someone else's inferior OS (wonder who he meant)lol, or go it alone and develop there own.
They choose to go there own way instead of piggy backing, that's keeping more choice for us so they should be applauded I say. Or you end up with 30 phone makers using the same OS. Not good! each company should be brave and innovate their own OS.
It looks cool, I probably get the Z10 the one without the Keyboard so I can see a bigger screen, my Dad will get the Q10 the one with the Keyboard, as he likes the Keyboard
This the benefit of building your own OS to be optimised to set specifications. Its like frigging lightening. He just did all that with a swipe of his thumb lol.

ok this seems to be the link to the official webcast of the launch, instead of the cnet stream which I posted earlier.

Think Android will be fine.

So RIM is no more, its just Blackberry now.
Right now its making EVERYTHING look like old tech, I'm preordering ASAP.
Gonna flog my nexus for a bit more, then snap this baby up!
