I listened a bit on Radio 2 when they played Please Please me. It was awful. The two guys couldn't hit most of the notes
    at all.

Watching this now and watching the guy sing Do you want to know a Secret. I don't know who he is.. If he is a song writer he needs to stick to that. He is butchering this song.

My question is... how the hell did the Beeb decide who would sing these songs. GAWD! It's bloody painful

I'm really enjoying it but it shows what great performers The Beatles were as I agree that so far only the Stereophonics have come close to matching them.

Wasn't it Julian Lennon? Whoever he was it was awful.

It was Ian Broudie, producer extraordinaire and creative force behind The Lightning Seeds.

weak rock style voices on this one. Makes you realise how good the beatles could actually sing.

I agree. They should have let the Radio 1 crowd have a go at it and put it on BBC3. I reckon the likes of Cheryl Cole, Tulisa, Will.I.Am and Emelie Sandie would do it justice:D

why do they do this? when people would very much want to listen to the orignal album than a cover version

Watching now but I definitely prefer the originals.

Also, why does it take a studio full of people to attempt to recreate these songs? There were only four Beatles, that's all.
