I haven't been to a Shell petrol station since the mid-90's because of their appalling human rights record and I don't buy any Afro-Caribbean foods or products from Asian-owned stores.
i *love* going into designer shops looking like a tramp, they ignore me etc then when im going to buy someting i whip out the gold credit card and then they are all nicey nicey
It's not exactly the same but - my degree was in anthropology and it's interesting to see how you're treated differently with the different ways you present yourself - if I go into a shop wearing my kagoule, jeans and walking boots I'm treated condescendingly or am ignored - if I wear my better coat and high heels they treat me with more respect. Surely they should treat everyone with respect, you're a customer.
Most shops I will go in but I must admit I don't like the big Tescos near me - the staff and the customers are often rude and the place is too big, I can never find anything.
Lol quite surreal seeing a thread I started 6 years ago being brought back from the dead!
Are you going to tell us then Ads all these years later you now shop at Asda happily slapping your bottom as you shop, Morrisons stock everything you need & your whole wardrobe is from Matalans? :D
None. If they sell what I want to buy and the price is right I really don't care whether the shop is considered 'chavy'. Why spend more just to avoid Asda, Lidl or Argos - that's just snobbery.
It's interesting to see how many people can't distinguish between 'chavs' and the working class, because, let's be honest, when people bang on about places like Asda and Argos being the haunts of 'chavs' they're basically referring to working class people.
Such remarks say a lot about either their lack of intelligence, their isolation from society, or their snobbery. Or, of course, their troll-like tendencies.

Lol I still avoid all three shops! Co-op seems to have tried to become a bit more upmarket since I wrote this original post though.
Carphone Warehouse, I was with a friend in town a few weeks back and they went in, I stayed outside, I hate the place.
Subway, the stench that comes out of it when they open the door puts me off.
Lakeland, as they have no idea about anything.
That is about it I think.
Oh, one local newsagent, because they look at people as if they are going to steal everything in the shop. Not that i been in there for years, but since the same people owns it i expect it is still the same.
I boycotted CO-OP for a while though that particular concern seems to have gone away now. I have permanently boycotted Tesco for their political actions and would never shop there. I don’t boycott Asda but I have never been a fond of them due to their long history of child labour, so I wouldn’t regularly shop with them.
Then again, due to my special diet there aren’t many supermarkets that sell anything I can eat. Waitrose is the best for me and I also shop at Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and Morrisons.
... they have destroyed the local economy of my hometown with their ghastly big shed...
Fair play, our County Council refused them planning, but then Tesco went to the National Assembly to appeal, and they overruled our local democratic council in favour of Tesco.    into infinity.
I'm sure they haven't, a big Tesco store employs more people than little local shops, hence more jobs.

Is halal a shop?
Class discrimination is alive and kicking in Britain after all.
What do you think Asda could do to improve their image?

There's nothing wrong with Asda, it's the same as any other supermarket, just cheaper on a lot of items.
You see it could be I buy the 'wrong' products, but nothing I ever see in Asda is cheaper than in other supermarkets.
Their 'roll-backs' are useless if it's not what you buy

I don’t think it has anything to do with class. There are many working class people who are extremely respectable and not at all chavs.
Presumably, chav discrimination is based on behaviour and lifestyle, not income or class.
That would cheer Asda up! Although you'd probably be asked to leave quite quickly
They are indeed, they're all over Northern Ireland and still doing really well there. Haven't seen any in the rest of the UK though.

Plus, their prices are cheaper.
<sighs>
