Yeah, I'm not sure I have the will power yet...it's the first day and I just seem to be doing nothing but looking at varnish and nail art vids...must...not...give into....itchy....fingers
I'm sure you'll do great! Good luck and keep us updated
wow, I did not know this thread existed. I maybe here a lot...
On the subject of Royal Mail, I ordered some from Oz end of Jan - took a week to arrive and no problems with Royal Mail - And I see on FB another US Indie stockist company has had some UK customers, who received their varnishes fine over the last 2 weeks.. I guess its hit and miss if yours get x-rayed or not.
I'm quite worried I buy most of my varnish online and didn't know about the internal UK crackdown, makes me wonder if I should splurge before June... ,stop reading nail blogs..., or pray that shops in the UK up their game...
The poster who is looking for sheer jellies, American Apparel (indeed!) have a range that look good for glitter. There is a coral and a kind of cherry red but no hot pink...looks like a nice range..

Oooh, I'd forgotten American Apparel! I saw them for the first time in Selfridges just before Chistmas, and yes, they had lots of jellies! Well done ninjablossom.

Ooh that's nice. Right girls. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me track down a polish I spotted a while back and forgot to save the name. D'oh! It's a dark purple or blue base I think, with a holo effect that reminded me of spilt oil.

The two that first come to my mind are Nails Inc's Franklins Row, or 'Petrol in Water' by Andrea Fulerton (can be found in Superdrug)..?
Thanks, I found it (Sally Hansen's Nail Prisms in Garnet Lapis) but it seems it's discontinued. Petrol in Water looks nice, might have to check that out.

Sorry to mini-hijack but I have to say that's the best forum name ever :D:D

Ooh that is very nice! I did a google search just now and found a blog post by our very own Elanor Shame you can't seem to get it anymore though.
I did notice this thread some time ago, but re-noticing it yesterday did lead me to count my nail polishes. 89 plus 3 currently on order from Avon.
I have to say though I often find myself admiring nail polishes in the shops and then have to start wondering if I already have something similar. It does keep me in check to a certain extent.:D

Haha!
Yes, the Sally Hansen Prisms... ah (They're duochromes, not holos though, by the way). Garnet Lapis is fab, really nice. Very watery though, you need about a million coats. I've got quite a few posts about that range: http://elanorsnails.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Nail%20Prisms
There are a few similar ones around these days, as others have pointed out. Not as obvious in the duochrome, but still pretty, and the blue to purple switch is the most common I think. Rimmel do a range of them now, as do 17, as well as Nails inc, so they might be easier to find and check out for you.
Yeah, it was on your blog I first saw it...I couldn't remember whether it was a holo or vhrome or the name, just that I liked it! Silly moo! I identified it by going through your blog on the off chance and there it was, so thanks!
It's also worth checking out bargain pound shops and market hall type places - my friend found 20-30 different SH Prisms in her local one, that's how come I have so many.
I found some prisms in a bargain shop near me for 99p each I now have seven, two are the same shade but are slightly different. I was so excited when I saw them haha.
WAAAAH! Thanks for the tip. I'll have a look next time I'm in town. I'm in rural Scotland and work locally so I don't go into town that often.
On a plus note my nails are pretty awesome just now. After wrecking them all lugging boxes and furniture in a flittin' just before Christmas, they're looking good now. Thank Gods for Nail Envy! Just treated them to a couple of coats of Rimmel's Green with Envy. I'm not usually a big fan of greens but I was feeling uninspired and needing something a bit different.
well since giving up the varnish for Lent I've developed a weird habit of putting my fingers in my mouth..I don't actually bite my nails off but they do make contact with the teeth..I can also confirm hand food does NOT taste as good as it smells

I'm moving my polish from one place to another tomorrow, so I have to put them all in a box to move them. I've decided to count then as I put them in the box.....I'm very nervous!

counting is a bad bad idea. I counted mine. I had 76 and the first thought that entered my mind was ''i'll stop when I get to a 100'' NOT that I have too many, not that I should sell some... no, just an instinct to buy more (and I have ordered more)
COunting is one thing. When you have a spreadsheet, that's when you need to worry. In fact, when your spreadsheet has three separate worksheets within it, then you REALLY need to worry.

I just finished counting and now I wish I had seen this first, I wish I hadn't!

I'm really restraining myself from having a spreadsheet, I think it could be slippery slope for me! & WOW! THREE worksheets! That's very impressive!
I find a spreadsheet essential! I do love a spreadsheet though. Nail varnish isn't the only part of my life on a spreadsheet.
Come on then, what's the total? Mine is 223 standard polishes, plus 37 different base/topcoats/quickdrying things/nail art pens and so on.
Spreadsheets are a fantastic invention! Especially for budgeting etc!
I don't think I can bring myself to count top/base coats and nail art pens etc… not today anyway! Just polishes alone I'm now at 831. I think you spreadsheet idea is looking like something I'm going to need!
