I think, in a perfect world I would not have had any American characters/influence on the series.
But its still a fantastic series and bar the untimely death, a cracking episode tonight.
..............Jerome Flynns is the best character imo.

Jerome fab..great character and great acting...
I don't mind the Americans so much..there certainly was a lot of cross pond pollination at the time so why not?
Ah good boy Drake-send her packing! Still love me some Drake-he's still the most likable and relatable. So Susan went from a money baron's daughter to a madame and married Jackson. Eh. Guess she doesn't mind him getting the odd rubdown from her employees
But who's going to be getting all the clues next week? Hobbs was like the all-in-one bobbie.
Sadly, the female engineer would probably have about as good prospects in American as London at the time. IE, not many. The big companies didn't hire women in the US.

Probably so, but I just think it sometimes feels like a Western (and Iv seen many Westerns and enjoyed them), but my own (maybe stereotyped) image of Whitechapel 1889 was more fog and Sherlock Holmes than OK Corral and Doc Holliday (accepting he died in 1887 but I hope you get my drift).
Like I said though its a fabulous highly watchable series.
I had been really enjoying the series, until tonight.
The arrival of "The Pinkertons" upset the whole dynamic for me. It was as if they intended to bring things to a rapid conclusion, without much attention to the plot or characters. Perhaps they didn't anticipate it proving to be so popular, and never intended to make another series.
Faking another Ripper killing, killing off the young copper, a ridiculous "duel"...all a bit too much for me, even as a fan of the series.

Got it wrong ..the Wild West comes To the East End:D
Boring lol whatever
Dude try watching Mr self on the other side then come back here then u see how wrong u are
I'd have preferred him locked in a cell with Drake for a couple of hours.
Nah love it love it..great fun!
Yah that would work for me too

He's absolutely excellent in this
Right, off to Being Human, see you next week

Jerome Flynn gives me the tingles. Who'd a thought! Next I'll be developing a dirty passion for Keith Chegwin.
Wonder if Robson thingy is a bit envious of Flynn's career renaissance.
I bet tonight's Call the Midwife had more viewers hiding behind the sofa than Ripper Street!
I'm sure we weren't the only ones cheering on Jackson to kill the man with no eyelids.

Look up Ikey Bogaard, about 20 years later mind

I think you need to lie down in a dark room - nobody could be that ill
Nah - he's always got his fishing
I was pleased about that too. He can do so much better than her - he deserves a woman who loves him.
