Surely the more pressing question regarding 10pm onwards is how The Agenda didn't manage to capitalise on the lack of Newsnight despite having the chancellor on.

I caught a bit of it but had to turn off. Is this really ITV's answer to Question Time and This Week? It was piss poor.

I'm guessing its a new form of underwear. Speedo's for the 21st century. ;)

Obviously hit by the lack of regional news programmes. Were they all cancelled?

Bit poor for Eastenders. Well, I say that. Still twice as many viewers as the dreary, depressing migraine-inducing tripe deserves. And Corrie's just as loathesome.

Note that Eileen started early due to the shorter news. So that quoted figure will include the first part of the Blandings repeat.

Dead heat then between Penguins and Prison, Corrie dawdlers helping the latter. Be interesting to see if Penguins actually led most of the hour.

Eastenders is extremely dull at the moment. There's no big storylines and it just feels stuck treading water, it's no surprise if people are giving up. Emmerdale is only 200,000 behind...

According to both TV and Radio Times coming soon sections Broadchurch starts in the week of 2-8Mar doesn't say which day though, can't be Sunday because of Mr Selfridge or Wednesday since Lightfields starts next week on that day, can't imagine it will be in the dead Zone of Tuesday or Friday (unless its crap and they want to kill it of course, so that leaves Monday or Thursday, Marchlands was on Thursday so ITV might think Lightning will strike twice.

Broadchurch is an 8-parter so it's unlikely to be on Thursdays cos there's a risk it would be interrupted by Europa League football. Has to be Monday, a traditional drama slot for ITV these days. (Fridays is out at the moment because Piers Morgan has that slot.)

Not as good as Itv were hoping for the prison show. they wanted a Strangeways style 5.5million plus and to win the slot comfortably. It didn't happen.

How did the daytime gameshows do?

Face the Clock, Countdown, Common Denominator, Deal or No Deal, Tipping Point, The Chase, Perfection and Pointless.

One question: what is a "Speidi"?

It's further proof, if it was needed, that whilst BB and certainly CBB is a big show for C5. Almost all spin-offs are just poor, despite blanket coverage in the Daily Star and Desmond's other rags.

It was 0.23m below the first episode of Strangeways. In what way is that not a Strangeways style rating?

Only you Sam could try and spin ITV factual beating BBC factual opposition as a bad result for ITV. It hardly ever happens.

Your posts are becoming gradually less 'marginally amusing' every time. ;)

Talk about scraping the barrel. :p

ITV had a brilliant night all night last night and the documentary figure is great.

The only thing you seem to be good for is stirring debate up from posters who actually talk sense and aren't trying to cause trouble! :D

Maybe you're a Moderator on a covert mission to increase debate and thus ad revenue.. ;)

Was looking at the 5.8million. It's not down much but it didnt win its slot as easily as I thought it would. Also Strangeways was the gold standard for a prison type of show, many people said Aylesbury wasnt as good viewing because it focused on just the negatives and made depressing viewing. It could lose viewers next week andI think the penguins will come out on top in 7 days.

Its his strategy as he does seem to want ITV to fail.

Not quite. The Agenda had a high profile guest and couldn't crack a million, even without Newsnight. Also managed to lose to Brooker's Black Mirror.

Rubbish. 'Aylesbury' cost a fraction of 'Penguins' and beat it head to head. An excellent result for ITV.

Glad to see 'Shrink My 17 Stone Legs' fail on C5. Thought we'd seen the end of these voyeuristic freak-shows.

The One Show looks lower than usual, Being Eileen isn't doing as well as other shows in that Monday 10:35pm slot. I guess The Chase didn't see a boost from those who saw Bradley Walsh on Let's Dance :D - and brilliant for Corrie, should be closer to 10m with +1 included, or even over 10m.

A lot lower than usual... The 30 minute shows are typically averaging a 21% audience share so something airing last night picked up some viewers. Was there any football on at that time?

It's not just any old Itv factual though. When it comes to prison shows, Itv knows for a fact that there is an audience of 5million+ who will watch any prison show on a Monday night after Coro St if they promote it as "shocking" and have fight scenes in the promo, as they do. The fact that the prison show beat the penguin documentary was as expected. But it only beat it by 0.1million which is much closer than expected. What I find frustrating about these prison shows is that they get a lot of critical acclaim from people with the memory of a gold fish who call it "groundbreaking" who cant remember that the channel did pretty much the same documentary a year ago, as well as two years and three years ago. It's lazy programming and Itv knows this shock value type of prison show will get the ratings, hence why they do it so often. Penguin Spy in the Huddle is at least more original and innovative.

No - probably a documentary on another channel.

Yes because everyone loves the Chancellor and wants to spend their free time watching him :D

Not sure the subject of the documentary, Mandy Sellars, agrees with you. Check her Twitter account to see the stream of lovely messages of support she received as the doco went out last night.

I wouldn't read too much into the one rating. Last night was factual overload at 9pm, meaning one or two programmes got lost in the shuffle. Just last week a repeat of Extraordinary People did 1.2m. The programme is not a failure by any means and will return with more touching stories later in the year.

BBC cut backs - both the war and the peace have been shortened.

Obviously split the audience with Ch 4 Embarrassing Bodies. Whilst there may be an portion of the audience watching with pure of heart intentions, I'm sure there are plenty of gawpers too.

I must admit to being slightly bemused that ITV's factual output now almost entirely centres around docs set in prisons. Yes, we get they rate. But there isn't any desire there to find the next Strangeways it would seem. Just to keep doing stuff along the same lines.

Can't argue with the numbers though. It rated in line with all reasonable expectations.

Pretty much bang in line where I thought Aylesbury would be at. 5m is a good result for the programme, yet its already been declared a flop on here this morning from the usual ITV haters.:sleep:

Corrie pulled in two very strong ratings (9.5m & 9.1m) and the first episode is a huge 1.8m ahead of EE!! And Emmerdale is only 0.3m behind it as well. Very poor EE rating for a Monday in February. Comparing y-o-y to the same episode, Corrie is pretty much flat/marginally up, whilst EE is down 0.7m.
