One question though, why did the Network go to all the trouble of creating vaccines and manufacturing the Russian Flu outbreak when all they needed was Jessica Hyde? Maybe I wasn't paying full attention, but this bit wasn't entirely clear to me .
It was something to do with the UK being a testing ground for the pre-cursor to Janus before they caught Jessica and went world wide with it... I think

I think it was mentioned by Letts that this was just the forerunner to the big one - to see if it worked. A bit like Deels was the forerunner to the Russian Flu ploy.

I think it was just another experiment phase to them, like Milner said, "It may work, it may not work".
Loved this from start to finish with all its twists and turns. Loved that Milner was Mr Rabbit and Jessica holds the secret - great twists! I assume the 'flu vaccine' could've worked to sterilise the nation and was a kind of side story, after all it was a bit of a big distraction to go to town on if there was no truth behind it?!
Brilliant series, heres looking forward to Utopia 2 (hopes!)

Thanks for the replies, guys.
Oh yeah, I do remember Letts saying that they were using the UK as a test run for Janus.
I suppose they had to test how Janus could be passed on from Jessica, right? They probably used the vaccines (experimental Janus) as a way of testing that. So now the Network have captured Jessica, they can implement the procedure via Jessica's blood/DNA or whatever. Or something like that .
It would have been a bit naff if Mr Rabbit was killed by a schoolboy with a broken computer.
Well I was convinced because it kind of fitted in with the non OTT way people died, if you get what I mean. Until the big reveal! Though I must admit I was waiting for some sort of twist, just because there was about 15 to 20 minutes of the show left! I do like a good twist and they were both very good twists.

I suppose they had to test how Janus could pass from person to person, right? So now they know how to do that, they can implement that procedure via Jessica's blood/DNA or whatever. Or am I wrong?
I thought it was more a case of so far they weren't sure, but once they had Jessica's blood, they would know for sure. But to be honest, guess they can now make it whatever they want if they have another series!!!
Wouldn't Arby have Janus within his blood too, seeing as he is related to Jessica? Or do we assume that Carvel only put it in Jessica, as he experimented on her separately.
Also, the manuscript did have the make-up of the Janus molecule, probably included as an insurance policy by Carvel, if anything went wrong. Milner may have known about this and didn't want to tell anyone else about Jessica, so told the others within The Network that the manuscript contained the molecular makeup, meaning that in the end it would always lead her to Janus, which it did.
I still can't get over the twist at the end. I had my suspicions, but to see Jessica so helpless made it more shocking.

From what I can gather, they didn't have Janus and so tried to create their own version, but they weren't sure whether it would work or not.
I was expecting the Mr Rabbit twist. The man Grant killed was too obvious.
I don't think the manuscript was as useless as Milner made it out to be. It did have the Janus molecule hidden amongst the pictures, which maybe she didn't know about.
This series has so blurred the boundaries of right and wrong no one can tell you you're wrong!
Except Gatehouse
and Barrie Williams!!
Amen to that, Calvin . I'll stick to my theory then . Such a great series though. Has to be Series 2. Love the music too. Got it on my mp3 player  .
I don't want another series. It may have ended up in a cliffhanger but a second series wouldn't match the brilliance of the first one.
Some things are best left alone.
But even if it was a tenth as good it would still be a hundred times more interesting than the majority of stuff on the box. Even Charlie Brooker let me down last night but it was still better than any episode of Midsomer Murders, Outlasts or CSI Penge!

That Jessica ending was so well done. Most of the series I didn't warm to her (I expect we weren't meant to) but that last scene, blimey, did I want someone to rush in and save her! It was pretty awful (as in for her) and you could see that on her face when the realisation sunk it. I agree her helplessness was hard to stomach.

A really good point. It had slipped my mind that she gave up the story. I don't recall anyone outside of the group ever verifying it - including Jess. Mind you, she's shown pretty much all of the abilities she professed Mr Rabbit to have,
Awesome series. Hope you agree
It was her who told them that bed-time tale, too-although Jessica had obviously been pre-loaded with that before the series (a prequel could be good!). I did say at the time that it seemed a bit hard to believe, but I swallowed the set-up with her "dying son" and stopped suspecting her.
Do we think Wilson is still alive? He would have surely seen Milner amongst the photo of the meeting and deliberately not revealed it to the gang, so is-if alive-the only person other than Jessica who knows Milner's identity.
That alone is enough for a second series potentially (there's plenty of other possible lines. Arby going off on another "Where is Jessica Hyde" for good is another!). But equally Milner's final line was devastating enough to be the finale. Bad Guys Win (unless you're one of the freaks like Wilson and Letts who think they were the good guys, of course!).
One of many deliberately vague scenes! Coulda gone up in the fire, could be enjoying a break. My money's on a Letts comeback in Series 2, Rea would be up for it

Could be - or she might be faking! Who can tell with Dennis Kelly at the helm!
Ok yep, that totally makes sense!:D

'Cos we were too busy watching it, twice

Ah yes, fair point, Jende.

You see? You write it off and then you just can't help yourself speculating
