Superb Roundups tonight Neil - thank you.

A couple of requests from me if I may - AC Milan v Inter Milan on ESPN yesterday evening, and the French match between PSG and Marseille on ESPN Classic last night?

    Many thanks in advance :)
I missed ESPN for the first time in a long time since cancelling last night. The Milan derby is always an exciting fixture.

French football is not really for me but I'm sure Becks' debut for PSG secured more interest than usual as well.

Talking of bizarre hits, any thoughts on how The Wedding Shop will do on Thursday for ITV. From the ad it just looks like the usual cheap ITV filler which will be lucky to scrape 2m, but then again it could follow in the footsteps of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and get a decent rating which nobody is able to explain.

Fingers crossed for under 2m. It looks garbage.

And to think they were saying some full matches could end up on ITV through BT. Can't see it.

Not actually hopeless. Considering the majority of matches don't get over 100k on Sky or ESPN, I'd say that the rating for the ITV highlights is pretty bloody good.

It's ITV. The second biggest channel in the country. 2.9% is dire beyond belief in any timeslot. Beaten by 5USA (amongst other digital channels probably).

I know I keep making the same point over and over again in different ways which might be boring to some but I think these figures really do hammer home how well Sunday Brunch is doing. It's over 4 share points clear of C4's highest rated show on weekday daytimes DOND and 2 points clear of anything else. 2.5 hours of the schedule filled very successfully every Sunday = job well done.

It's oddly addictive. It's rare to see so many positive comments about a C5 show and hardly any negatives except from those who have never watched it and mock the concept. The viewers have a lot of love for this one.

Extreme Railways could come back. The numbers were very good I thought. At the very least they should work with Chris Tarrant on some more projects along those lines as I thought he suited that kind of show well.

Extreme Railways did great and on paper sounded silly but it worked especially when you consider how many problem Chris and the team encountered and it hipad positive feedback from viewers,

Looks like good news then for ABC - I guess having so many popular movies in the running helps though. I wonder if the host caused a big improvement in the demo as well.

Indeed the demo increases are striking. The Oscars were adjusted up to 40.3m and a 13.0 adults 18-49 rating from 8:30 to 11:40PM . Last year's scored a 11.7 adults 18-49
    @wjcarter
Forget the reviews: Seth Mac may find himself invited back as Oscar host. 18-49 rating up 11 %;18-34 up 20%. Just what Oscars +ABC wanted

Huge ouch for both sets of figures either. Poor peak for the results show too.

It's doing good for Channel 4 and I imagine its not too expensive to make. I do wonder if BBC One didn't have their religion and current affairs requirements whether they'd air something similar. What was the reason that Something for the Weekend was dropped?

I know some like to shrug their shoulders and say it's okay because they can't replace it with a better performing show but the trajectory for DOI this series must be most displeasing to ITV. Does Cummings even tweet the figs these days? That probably tells its own story, not that I blame her for that of course as in her position I wouldn't either.

I've seen Sunday Brunch a few times and it's one of the few decent shows on Channel 4. Meanwhile DOND continues its slide. Surely Channel 4 should pull the plug before Noel sees the ratings and decides to walk.

A tiny bit of mitigation for ITV (everyone knows I like to be fair to them ;)): it was a re-screening of the highlights shown at 8pm on ITV4. How that rated, I cannot say, for now.

It's gradually fading. Some will argue it should remain for now because it's still bringing in above average shares on weekdays but it's only going one way so that won't remain the case for too much longer at the rate it is falling.

The trouble is, what do you replace it with? Could something like this work?

    3:45 Countdown
    4:30 Four in a Bed
    5:00 Come Dine with Me
    5:30 The Simpsons
    6:00 The Simpsons

Unlike DOND, The Simpsons is showing no sign of running out of steam so they could easily get away with two episodes a night, pushing the 5pm shows back a bit.

There comes a time when any channel has to judge whether it's important to save a show or whether they should let it die. I have no doubt Dancing on Ice would have done better against the weak opposition offered by BBC One on Saturday night's at the start of the year but then what would they air in it's place on Sunday's?

If they move Dancing On Ice I have no idea what they can put in it's place...move the soaps back to Sunday and follow them with two hour dramas just to hold an end up?

It's great to have those kind of weapons in your arsenal.

It must feel like a tempting option right now. The soaps would be sure to improve on DOI's 2013 performance and then they'd be better positioned to try and take on the likes of Call the Midwife and Top Gear.

The soaps were only moved so they could freshen up Sunday's - now Sunday's are looking quite tired pre-watershed, especially away from The X Factor and Dancing on Ice which is ironic considering how they're ailing now.

I can understand why ITV would be loathed to move the soaps back - presumably it'd be the 8pm Emmerdale and second Friday episode of Coronation Street which would be moved but that would leave them with another toxic flop zone on Thursday and nothing to draw the viewers back on Friday.

To be fair to ITV, BBC One have little else outside EastEnders to draw viewers back to the channel in the pre-watershed slot either. But it does show the probelms created if one broadcaster steals a march; it feels to me as though ITV have practically abandoned Tuesday nights and, though holding up better, BBC One have given up on Wednesday's outside The Apprentice.

Glad DOI figures are slipping if only to curtail Schofield's massive ego. Remember when he tweeted every Monday morning the DOI overnights? Not anymore Schofe, not anymore. Ha!

The slippery slope (sorry :D) has also been noticed in this article..

It also airs on ITV4 first - not sure how it rates but I'd imagine most fans hunt out the ITV4 showing first. ITV though have done a very good job with the rugby highlights - the BBC never showed them until after the Six Nations and even then it was one game a week, while ITV show highlights of every game every single week of the Championship, both in primetime on ITV4 and also in a not too shabby off-peak slot on ITV.

That said have to agree that ITV's weekend shares out of primetime are shocking of late - they really shouldn't be aiming not to dip too far below 10% at any point in the schedules.

Surely C4 should ensure they have something lined up to take it's place before having any knee jerk reaction. It's a show that needs resting rather than axing until C4 have something to succeed it lined up, and that is where they should be investing their daytime cash, not in these cheap filler 30 minute shows which are going nowhere. Take Deal off for eight weeks over the summer and pilot two decent shows that in the short term can alternate with it, and in the long term could replace it completely.

As tired as DOND may be I still can't fathom out how anyone would choose Tipping Point over it - one of the worst game shows I've ever seen and IMO tired by the end of the first episode, never mind seven years on. Meanwhile I see the BBC have replaced The Antiques Road Trip, a show in which two antiques expert spend the week buying and selling antiques seeing who can make the most money, with Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, a show in which two antiques expert spend the week buying and selling antiques seeing who can make the most money.

2 things before you go off on one.

One it was show on itv4 at 8pm, and secondly it international weekend meaning that most of the teams are seriously weakened compared to normal and s a result go get all sorts of odd results.

And a third for free, on bbc2 at the same time there were 6 nations highlights.

Jeez, I wish people would do some basic research before their rants here. Seems to be all twitter said this, I've got a 6th sense feeling stuff!

I know it's a bit early - but if anyone can post the ratings for the snooker yesterday on ITV4, that would be great - I hope it beat the ratings that they normally see for repeats of Minder and The Professionals... but as a snooker fan myself I have to admit yesterday's games weren't the most exciting. Having said that, today's games are fast paced so far :-)
