Twilight - Elliott Smith
Samson - Regina Spektor Woods / Skinny Love - Bon Iver (NOT Birdy)
Silvia - Miike Snow
That Moon Song - Gregory Alan Isakov
The Rifle - Alela Diane
Morning Afterglow - Electrasy
Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac
The Power Of Love - FGTH / Gabrielle Aplin
For The Widows In Paradise, For The Fatherless In Ypsilanti - Sufjan Stevens
Completely agree! Birdy's is a sweet, inoffensive cover but the original has so much more heart and soul.
Woods gives me chills everytime! I'm still shocked and saddened that he allowed Kanye West to use it
interesting vid, kids in a graveyard, (bet the boy was mark lester of 'oliver' fame) a sad reminder that one day they too will be dead...lol.. oh the fragility of life, and how it goes soooo fast...:(
Stevie Ray Vaughan's instrumental version of Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing. Sends a shiver up my spine every time I hear it, almost like Jimi's there with him.
John Martyn's album Grace & Danger is full of chills-down-the-spine moments. Sweet Little Mystery is probably the best known song from it but Lookin' On and Baby Please Come Home are equally great. Even the guitar in Baby Please Come Home sounds like it's got a broken heart.
Apollo 440 - Pain in any Language (with Billy MacKenzie on vocals)
Goldfrapp - You Never Know
Culture Club - Victims - especially the drum intro halfway through
Hotel California - The Eagles Lady Eleanor - Lindisfarne
Ooh yes, agree with this. And agree with all the Kate Bush suggestions.
OP - you know Comfortably Numb, so I assume you also know Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Wish You Were Here?
I'd also suggest:
Fotheringay - Sandy Denny
Who Knows Where The Time Goes - Sandy Denny (Eva Cassidy's version wasn't bad either)
River - Joni Mitchell
Woman in Chains - Tears for Fears.
Sorry the first three are a bit folky, but Sandy and Joni's voices are just wonderful.
Pink, Orange, Red by The Cocteau Twins
Placebo's version of Running Up That Hill
Exit Music by Radiohead
Intro by The Xx
Milk by Garbage
Will You by Hazel O'Connor
and the only Madonna song I ever liked, Frozen

What are they ?
hands down, so much soul in this song!
I know, its probably best to just let Kanye do what he likes though, rather than go up against him.
The slow section of the Moody Blues song "question". such genuine emotion in that voice.
"You'll never walk alone'. (Not cos im a Liverpool fan, but because its such a positive song and uplifting.)
Abba , "The winner takes it all"...first heard this the day after my fiancee dumped me for one of my friends.
