Steve Jones really is a prat, isn't he? I really don't know why they thought inflicting him on the unsuspecting American audience of The X Factor was a good idea.
Trouble for Let's Dance. One of the contestants is injured and can't take part. So presumably there will be even more filler than usual tonight - 3 songs in the "pub karaoke" then?
Ant and Dec will increase their lead tonight, as it was the half hour filler in LD last week that bumped up their average and gave them their peak.
There's an article in the Daily Mail magazine today about Our Queen, a 2-hour one-off documentary about a year in the life of the Queen due to be shown on ITV later this month.
I spotted this too in a copy of the Mail magazine (which for the avoidance of doubt was NOT mine - though it is a good TV mag in fairness - despite refusing to recognise the existence of Mrs Brown's Boys and censoring anything with a rude title - I noticed the Tarantino movie "Inglorious" recently...).
Surprised we have not heard more about this, because it does seem to be in the Elizabeth R mode 20 years on, and whilst it seems odd to air it after the jubilee year, it is of course about her jubilee year. And carries the inside story on the TV moment of the year (on BBC1) - the Queen/Bond spoof.
Why on earth isn't this on BBC1? Quite a snub I think.
Elizabeth R got 19m in 1992. Strangely the Beeb allowed ITV to air a repeat of it at Christmas that year and that pulled 8.5m (winning its slot).
I doubt it will get 19m this year, but it really should be good for 12m-13m if not more (look at the jubilee ratings last year) and one of the biggest audiences of the year, easily.
Will ITV let BBC1 repeat it at Christmas? (what is known as a QTWTAIN - "question to which the answer is no")
Friday 1st March 2013
BBC One
23:25 - FILM: Armageddon (1998): 1.03m (16.8%).
That looks quite good for a late film rating, for a film that ended at twenty to 1 and which has been shown umpteen times on BBC1 and BBC3 (and is shite). Rarely does the Friday late film break out of the hundred thousands.
(Although a BBC1 repeat of The Terminator in a Friday 11.15pm slot did famously get 11m around 1990 (?) at the time of the sequel hitting the cinemas, after BBC2 had premiered it a couple of years before)
An epic 6-part period drama. Really does sound like a Sunday nighter to me.
I've read that and I stick by what I've said, it might be a period drama for the most part, but it deals with the everyday domestic issues not on a single subject that would draw in the viewers, so I see it on Tuesdays, and I think I've said so a couple times on this thread. (I do post mainly on BBC drama commisions )
At least the Daily Mail telly mag doesn't worship the great God Cowell like the redtop ones do, or comically call Home and Away gripping drama from down under like The Daily Express one does, which usually has a load of fawning articles about Channel 5. ( Wonder if Dancc buys it as he would love the way they treat Channel 5 like it's BBC Four)..

BBC One got an overnight of 1.50m (21.8%) in that slot last Friday for Pretty Woman. They seem to be putting a bit more effort into their film selection there lately - you're right that they rarely breach 1m.

I didn't know that. One of my favourite sci-fi franchises, but the special effects of the original seem so dated now. Sci Fi have been showing that a lot lately.

According to Televisions Greatest Hits it was 9.1 million from 11.15pm on 17/8/91. I think this was around the premiere time of Terminator 2: Judgement Day which presumably is what inspired the highly impressive figure.

I didnt say I knew much about them (as proven by constantly being wrong about when they're going to start ), they're just the only thing I post about on this thread , but I've searched for it and nothing comes up apart from it's commission. I imagine it won't start filming until the second half of the year though, since it's going to be part of their WW1 programming next year.

Well, that will be it then. Perhaps I remember it being reported as peaking at 11m which it presumably will have done if it averaged 9.1m at that time of night. It made the papers because it was seen as a staggeringly high figure for a film that finished after 1am.
I think SNT will easily hit 5m but I'm not sure it'll match last week's audience or even beat it because I was slightly disappointed. The Cube should benefit from the lead-in.
At least I went for a reasonable guess and not just said "BBC1 got 19m, so should ITV"
