well the set looks no different to what it does now just more newer & up to date in fact very much like salford, you can see the difference between an old set & a new one. why so late in the year for the move ,the studios look ready to move in?
I am also hearing from twitter and other forums that BBC News Channel is moving back to N8 in June when World News move to BH. N8 is news 24's previous studio and current world news set.

I thought the current plan was World News would move to BH in June. Then TC7 would close in September. This would leave the NC and National News in N6. Obviously before the BBC One bulletins the NC would broadcast from N8 to allow rehearsal time.
The 10th would sound a good date to begin the broadcast from Salford as it is the Tuesday after the Easter break. Are weekend Breakfast programmes going to originate from Salford as they are currently done in the BBC News studios in TVC.
Better to have taken their time, got the building fully completed, ironed out any snags (any refurb or new build will always have a lengthy snagging list), and take their time in moving critical services bit by bit than to have a faster migration and threats to those critical services.
Hope they start broadcasting in HD.
The studios will be HD equpped, as will the production galleries. However I am not sure whether the feeds will route back to TVC until they vacate completely (March 18th?). If they do then I recall someone implying that the broadcast output will be SD.
Notwithstanding that caveat, I would then expect any news output broadcast on BBC one HD or BBC Two HD to be HD.
Does this mean a new weather map to replace the multi-panel one which looks like it's on its last legs, with mismatched colour and brightness, visible joins and one flickering screen?

Might've already had it's last use - Eddie Mair on Radio 4 PM has said that weather moved to NBH today.
The chance of a BBC News HD channel is probably slim.
What's the point of HD for this channel?
They use YouTube wherever they can to avoid paying royalties on archive footage, and they use web cams for pieces from foreign correspondents to save cash.
Broadcast quality on rolling news is lower than we used to get in the 70s.
As you were - the weather forecaster on the 6 was still in the studio.
Maybe the weather on the 1, 6 and 10 are still at TVC for now, with all other NC half hourly weather bulletins now at NBH? See if Carol Kirkwood is in HD tomorrow morning on Breakfast and you'll then know for sure!

Carol was not in HD this morning - so now we know!

Indeed, I checked too!! I think from what I've read over on the TV Forum is that it's being dual run at present - world weather on BBC World News (with new graphics) all from NBH and domestic weather for domestic output + BBC News still in TVC. They are probably doing a bit of a soft trial using World for the new weather facilities prior to letting it loose on the domestic output.
I'm now thinking that we might have to wait until the 18th to see the whole new studios, in HD and with new graphics, as it will likely be this date it all moves for the 1,6, 10 and BBC News - unless anyone else knows differently?

Why would you build a set like that , which could be absolutely anywhere when you have all the splendour of new Broadcasting House to show off??
