There's nothing illegal about what this woman's doing. In fact families as large as this are probably very rare, as I can't imagine many women would want to have so many children. I just don't understand why she's being treated like some criminal who's committed a heinous crime. I find it frightening the way some people in this country think, at times.
I dont think she has commited a crime and i dont think its her fault.....its the fault mainly of politicians (from all parites) and economics....and that they only take difficult choices as a last resort and by then its too late.....Labour dug its head in the sand over a lot of issues which needed to be fixed..,,,and did very little in reforming the benefits system when it was in power.....and if they did it earlier wouldve meant a lot less in the way of pain now....they let things get out of control with regards to housing benefit (conservatives too before that) ...and allowing mass immigration in a short space of time and the consequences for public finances and services....
The trouble is with the general cost of living rising more and more people are going to be even better off on benefits.....and now in an economic downturn its the worse time to change things....but it has to be done or there will be no money left to pay people benefits at all.....
I watched question time last night: one comment, this woman who is being vilified by people on here and many else where Is suffering from cervical cancer and is actually dying. according to one of the pannel.
I don't think she has done anything wrong, she is just doing what everyone wants to do, provide a better life for her family.
I think it's wrong, she's playing the system. BUT it is legal and lawful, but I blame the system. However there are bigger things to get outraged about though, this story isn't relevant to the grand scheme of things.

Exactly.
An isolated case stirred up by the Tories and their pals in the Press, with their usual "divide and rule" tactics, and perpetuating their "all benefit claimants are scroungers" mantra.
They would never dream of demonising wealthy tax avoiders, private landlords who cream off housing benefit, or bankers.

Agreed it just distracts from the main events luckily for the politicians whilst we concentrate on her they are laughing.

Agreed, although on rare occasions they do. Treasure those.

Whatever happens with regards to this woman and her brood, there's still celebrity paedophiles to be outed, an economy in the gutter with no signs of improving, a Government still without a clue, civil unrest in Europe, EU uncertainty, horse meat being sold to us by corporations and the ongoing global financial and energy crisis.
So I've got bigger things to worry about than a serial breeder.
This case almost feels like a bit of 6 of one and half a dozen of the other with both sides playing it for their political ends. The Daily Mail using it as another bash the benefit claimants story and the left saying it is the government having a go at benefits.
Seriously the woman has just gone through a years chemotherapy and anyone who has seen what that is like knows that working and holding down a job in these instances would be next to impossible.
That said she has 11 kids, that are all being paid for out of public funds - one wonders about the father(s) - when are they going to contribute. Further the horse? Why are public funds being used for something that even people of fairly well of means cannot afford.
The benefit system is designed to help people when they need it and on the face of it - this is at least in part an example of what it is supposed to do, but it is also an example of what is wrong.
Everyone wants to have 11 children with no means of supporting them? And have red hair?
You must know some very unusual people.
I'm not sure whether you have deliberately misinterpreted what the poster said or just misunderstood but he/she distinctly said "provide a better life for her children". Which is something the majority of parents would want.
Even the comments from the mirror readers are slagging her off.
It makes them feel better about themselves. They need to look down on someone else and their misfortune in order to feel that they are better in some way.

How, exactly do you think anyone who has ELEVEN children with no means of supporting them "provides a better life for them"?
Agreed, although on rare occasions they do. Treasure those.
Exactly.

Really? then why have you spent all morning posting over numerous threads about it? doesn't quite befit the profile of someone who has bigger things to worry about. Curious. Very curious.

That's because they're more concerned with a paranoid theory about a list of people this government is apparently targeting

except when the government attempt to rectify the system, they are subject to vitriolic attack.

Yes where are the fathers? Why no witch hunt for them? Particularly the father of the first child she had when she was just 14? One would hope that he was just a spotty teenager himself, but if not, that would be worrying. It doesn't excuse where she is now or why she continued to have children (which I believe to be a combination of psychological and social issues rather than monetary gain), but we should remember that she was a child herself when she first started down this course.
Life of reilly eh, rather you than me! This is why the benefit system is there, she's doing what anyone else would do in her situation, 1 or 11 kids.
Oh her mother paid for the horse by the way.
I dont think the point is that she lives in luxury, its the amount of money that her and that many kids cost the state over there lifetimes and when they follow in her mothers footsteps and have there own children.
Maybe they will all grow up to be net contributers to the state but the statistics for children of the long-term unemployed arent exactly hopeful.
This kind of story doesnt make me angry but it is depressing. I notice the usual posters trying to deflect the story onto tax avoidance which has nothing to do with this issue....
How, exactly do you think anyone who has ELEVEN children with no means of supporting them "provides a better life for them"?
I can't because I don't profess to know all the circumstances.
As you obviously do then I'm presuming you know how long she has been a burden on the taxpayer. Forhow many of the past 22 years she has been claiming Housing Benefit and whether any of the fathers have ever worked and/or supported the children and when she actually started to claim benefits for the children other than child benefits
Even the comments from the mirror readers are slagging her off.
Most Mirror readers are working class - they are too well aware of how the system can be exploited as its many of their neighbours doing it while they struggle on working long hours for little extra reward!
Ah the media creating a hate/poster figure for benefit claimaints which is going to end in tears I bet - by the 'defenders of the taxpayer' how laughable.
You don't have to read it; it's not compulsory. I must say the Daily Heil have outdone themselves here. They have found someone who lived next door to them and they have reported they actually made some noise.
WOW....what next, the Pope is a flipping Catholic?

This is why tax avoidance is seen in a better light than a Housing benefits situation such as Heathers.
How, exactly do you think anyone who has ELEVEN children with no means of supporting them "provides a better life for them"?
Whose are these, where is/are the other parent(s), and is the taxpayer supporting these children as well?
Obviously, if the answer to the last question is "no", then the first two are none of anyone else's business.

It is very odd behaviour.
I think it's a case of if they fly tip the infamous "first they came for the... " quote enough times people will agree with them.
