I don't think Dannii was trying to copy American Idol at all. I think she was genuinley trying to give some feedback the audience wanted to hear and the contestants too. I think she did a great job, particularly towards the end of being honest and incorporating everything into her feedback - style, performance, voice, artistry.
The 'pitchy' comments were pure Randy Jackson and the 'print that record' came from Paula Abdul's feedback. This is what Sharon was mimicking on the GN show.
The rest of it was the nonsense 'box fresh' comments. Not forgetting her embarrassing Danyl comment and Jeward's "This is a singing competition, right? Right?" (followed by the tumble weed reaction)
Paula also mentioned pitch many many times on X Factor US, as have many judges across these platforms. I don't remember Sharon saying anything of particular worth on that year of X Factor, just throw away comments like "your doing it for the mums" - nothing to do with performance.
That Jedward comment was what people had been waiting for, especially after Lucie went to them.
Do you not remember her on X Factor 2010? The only one who ever honest about One Direction, Cher and Katie.
You seem to have some unhealthy obsession with disliking her. Your comments don't particularly translate to the wider opinion.

Yet Dannii saved Katie over Belle Amie and saved Cher over Mary So she wasn't that honest and brave as a judge was she? She also said yes to Jedward in their original audition
You mention her in 2010, which arguably was her best year, but her first 2 seasons were pretty much anonymous - she didn't come into her own until the last 2 years of her 4 season reign. Nicole made an impact in her first season.
And Dannii hardly gets half the abuse that other XF judges get on DS - just because someone like Jackbell, and myself don't see what is so special about her, doesn't make us have an 'unhealthy obsession with disliking her'.

If you mean me I find that a bit unfair. I don't particularly dislike her at all. For those that do - that's great.
I could say the Dannii lovers are unhealthy but I won't. I accept that people have different opinions and don't see things the same way. What a pity you don't and you have to throw around a word like 'unhealthy'.
Lol @ Dannii 'copying' Idol because she said someone was pitchy or record ready. Oookay.
This should be great for her. She'll be able to do the X Factor without uprooting Ethan, dealing with the tabloid accusations and drama that dominate our version and without sharing a panel with her boss which must have made her feel uncomfortable at times, given how much more at home she always seemed on AGT.
Julie_Evans, do you remember Belle Amie's performance compared to Katie? Because I do. They were very off on their vocals. Katie was able to bring it everytime with her save me song. Also, Cher's Everytime cover was widely seen as better than Mary's save me song, so I think you're just making assumptions there.
I knew someone would bring up her visiting One Direction when they were in Australia and praising them. She mentioned they were using a heavy backing track and also had a go at the members for letting each other down and not picking up at the right time. The only criticism they got all season.
I love Nicole, but did you see her on XFUS? She was terrible, really dreadful.
The reason I say unhealthy is because it seems to be in every thread, and also commented on every press story. I'm not obsessed and in love with her (I am with Demi Lovato and that was pre-X Factor), I just appreciate the honesty and effort she put into the show.

Some posters do seem to remember things through rose tinted glasses. I've just watched One D's first live show again and there is plenty of praise for One D. Among this praise though, Simon comments on how one of them messed up towards the end and Cheryl says that they need time to develop as a group. Louis says they have alot of work to do and makes a comment about their styling. The only judge not to give any negative criticism on that performance was Dannii!

She was lucky with Matt in 2010, while practically butchering the other three.

One Direction? She seems to be a huge fan.

I might actually watch the whole thing this year.

Anyway I wish her the best of luck on the Australian version:)
Haha, my all time favourite Dannii comment was when she told Katie she'd make a better actress than singer.
That's the first live show, start looking at the later performances when they really do mess up.

Seriously? She seems to love every of the 6 performances I've posted - hardly any harsh criticism at all.
She's met them a few times and she told a radio station shes happy they brought back pop again.
Im really looking forward to see her on XF again. Im sure shell bring surprises along the way.
