I like Matt Smith enormously. On balance, I still prefer Tennant, but it's a very close run thing.
But I much prefer Tennant's era. I loathed Amy, while Moffat's storytelling has left much to be desired for me. He has terrific ideas, but he needs a really strong script editor to stand up to him and suggest he doesn't have to throw every single thing in at once.
Pertwee remains my all time favourite Doctor, though.
I was always TB man, but MS has pushed him very close.
Even when there have been "dubious" stories, for me, it's MS that still makes it enjoyable.
That said, whilst (somewhat sadly) I still wear my TB scarf, i doubt that in my 70's I'll be parading around with a bow tie/Fez combination...(but then again...depends how wonky I have gone...)
My favorite Doctor list is reflective of which Doctor's DVDs I would reach for first, if I was sitting down for the evening to enjoy some Who. So, based on that, my favourites are:
Every actor who played the Doctor brought their own unique quality to the role, so I like them all, but if I have to list them in order of personal preference, it would be as follows:
1. Tom Baker
2. Matt Smith
3=. Peter Davison
3=. William Hartnell
3=. Sylvester McCoy
6. Paul McGann
7. Christopher Eccleston
8. David Tennant
9. Patrick Troughton
10. Jon Pertwee
11. Colin Baker
So, as you can see from that list, I agree with the title of the thread.

Peter Davison was my favourite Doctor until Matt Smith and I never thought would be possible for anyone to replace him as my favourite as he was my childhood hero
Tom Baker I actually rate quite a bit down my own pecking order, though I do think in many ways he will always be the definitive Doctor, conversely.
My current pecking order goes:
1. Smith
2. Davison
3. Troughton
4. Eccleston
5. T Baker
6. Tennant
7. Pertwee
8. McCoy
9. Hartnell
10. McGann
11. C Baker
The only one I didn't really care for in the role was Colin Baker, but even then, I do like his work on the audios and I think he came in to the show at a very tough time indeed.
I would put MS in the bottom half of my list, just above 2 and 1.
10 and 4 are my top two with 5 and 9 closely behind, the rest can fight it over in the middle
David Tennant has topped a poll to find the US public's favourite Doctor Who star. The survey - conducted by Entertainment Weekly - saw Tennant win more votes than the rest of his fellow actors combined. The Scottish star - who played the Tenth Doctor from 2005 to 2010 - scooped a huge 59% of the vote, with his successor Matt Smith taking second place with 16%.

Don't do it Matt, Dr Who is better than the majority of rubbish that is churned out of Hollywood.

It's just the writers, I hate

Its a shame if he goes now because I really didn't care for his Doctor for seasons 5, 6 or 7a. But the Christmas special, with Clara, was wonderful.
For me, he really can't top 4 or 10 but I am beginning to really enjoy his Doctor at last.
Very close to mine. Although I'd move 2 up a bit. 4 places in fact.

Eleventh??!?
In my opinion anyway... Long live Doctor #11!

Series 5 was top
Series 6 was top-per
series 7 is set to be the top-est
Yeah, by comparison to Tennant and Eccleston...SMith wins by a LANDSLIDE!!!
