It will be interesting to see where it goes, as I think the problem is digital downloads (maybe a little illegal downloads too) and I don't know what they will be able to do to compete with that type of service.
I think the model business on the high street with other outlets selling DVDs and cheap games is bleak for Blockbuster. Technology has also moved on. Obviously they have ideas what they going to do.
I use Netflix regularly, and I've been a Lovefilm member in the past, but I still regularly use my local independant video shop (yes, some still exist), because at £2 per night for a DVD or BluRay it's good value and you can get the film you want when you want it, unlike, for instance, Lovefilm.
I stopped using Blockbuster years ago when prices started going north of £3, I don't care that you get it for five nights, I only want to watch it once.

It is nice to hear that there are some independent rental places around. And I agree with Blockbuster prices I can buy films for the price they are renting for (granted they are older films that I can buy but still rather buy older ) I do however enjoy £5 rental of games for 5 days as this tends to be a perfect amount of time to complete the game
Same treatment with Comet, they have given a guy from HMV (??) the job of overseeing it, for a huge fee no doubt, before the inevitable asset stripping and closure somewhere down the line. The National Insurance fund must be busy these days paying out all this redundancy pay, sure these guys will ensure through fancy deals they keep most of the cash when it happens.
Mine has a sign saying Business as usual. So no decent deals to be found in mine, I was looking for War Horse on Blu-ray and decided to have a look in Blockbuster. It was £14 so I decided to leave it.

Far more useful purpose if you ask me
Blockbuster should have adapted and provided a service like netflix.
Locally, we always had to go to London to buy stuff as the small town was incompetent.
Amazon saves me money.
