A sense of pride in the work I do and the fact that I have earned my own money is very important to me.

The social contact. I've worked from home for several years now and sometimes you feel a little stir crazy. On the plus side you pay less tax though.

It gives me something to do most days, bit of money and gets me out of the house and being sociable.

I do care about the "company", but only about the actual things I am working on, I know that one day a certain person in the company may turn on me like a pack of dog(s), in which case I am fully prepared.

Social contact is hard for me. I find it hard to talk people.

Much of what constitutes work is hard. That is why it is called work rather than pleasure or recreation perhaps?

The money and the pride of doing something good.

I look after a couple of major websites. One is pretty awful the other is miles better. It narks me when people rubbish either website and it's already narking me that the users are messing up the newer, much better web site. It narks me because I care.

Social - I like the fact I have people to talk to during the day and sometimes even the chance to go out during the weekend. But most the relationships in the work place are make belief because you have to spend so much time together and be civil.

Work Ethic - I like the fact I work hard. Being on benefits and unemployed was boring and soul destroying for me and I got a new job under a year which is a good thing these days.

There are disadvantages of course. I work to live not live to work.

Socialisation for me to. I like going on little adventures me and that requires money more often than not, but I miss talking to people in a break out area, or over coffee or interacting with kids.

Structure too. I find jobseeking harder working because I am not 100% sure that a letter I have written or an assessment question I have wrote is correct. Whereas in work you know the right soloution to the problem

I do not doubt you. I used to find many things I had to do while working hard. I always assumed that was why I got paid to do them. Why would anyone pay much to do things that where easy?

Not having a go at you just trying to point out that if one wants to work for money it may be necessary to do things that are not easy.

I am the same, but I think once you are settled down into an environment that will come naturally.

That is also very true and in a life time of work I always found supportive workmates who helped new people fit in.

One thing I have found, Is I have dyspraxia. I am highly organised, except in new environments and struggle to remain organised in new environments., This has been a major barrier to employment(first impressions and all) So every temporary role I have had, they have got this impression of someone who is disorganised and it hasn't really helped me secure a long term role.

Your attitude is probably why you're out of work.

Yep, work is part of life and is normally enjoyable if you are of the right mindset. Some are not.

I will work the hours in my contract ,so if it says 8 hours a day thats all I do. As I use public transport , back in 2004 I worked at wicksteed park and was on my way out at 5pm , I was told I had to do over time as someone was going to be late in. I told he I have to be gone by 6.30 to get last bus back to my town he said ok ,6 30 comes he still will not let me go home as person not in . The person gets in 8.ish I have missed last bus home and my boss did not care. also on the good friday 1 2
    hours without a break
