Her policies destroyed a lot of peoples lives and they won't forgive her .My own father and his brother were made unemployed when their mine was closed down .They were 50 and 53 and never worked again .I know they'd be rejoicing today.
I imagine a lot of people will be rejoicing in private.

I remember cheering when she resigned but it's always sad when someone dies.

State funeral is out of the question though.

BBC already trashing her in their commentary about how divisive she was - she is barely cold.

I don't see what's wrong with that. I was listening to LBC radio (which isnt exactly left-wing) and they have mentioned the same, talking about her fight with the miners and the bad feeling there. They can hardly state that she was loved by all, can they?

As long as they are being respectful, which from what I can see they are, then I dont see how they can avoid the fact that not everyone loved her or her policies.

Hopefully there will be a dignified private funeral.

    This.

Providing it's a private funeral, that's all I will have to say on the matter.

She was a sad old woman who had forgotten most of the things she had done. Not the Wicked Witch is dead.

Me ma said she should have been a Countess or a Marchioness, not a Baroness. But I said to her, she did not want the Countess accolade because it would lead to a lot of jokes on the c-word; could not be a Marchioness, because of the Thames boat that sank.

They couldn't defeat her when she was alive so all the left can do is boo and throw insults now that she's dead.

Yep it's clear to see (even here) that there are indeed quite a few dimwitted ignorant arseholes in this country.

Suppose Mrs. T will be blamed for that as well.

A state funeral paid for out of my money?

Why? What about the people of this country that she drove into the mud. Are they just to be ignored and a state funeral pushed through no matter what?

    How Thatcherite!

Already facebook and twitter is filled with comments from people who either were not alive during her time in office or were too young to be affected spouting how "happy" they are as if she had a massive negative effect on their own lives.

You think politicians don't have a effect on peoples life's in years to come... Think again

They'll probably have a private funeral, a state one would turn into a mess.

Yippee!!!!! Ding dong the witch is dead. I am so happy. I'll have a great sess in the gym today.

In the 1970s Britain was the "Sick Man of Europe" and the laughing stock of the world before Mrs Thatcher ousted Labour and restored Britain's image abroad.

Exactly. It's this pathetic twitter left-wing brigade. My uni is filled to the brim with them; far too young to have lived then, but hate Thatcher nonetheless, simply because a) their mates hate them b) they think it's cool to follow their gimpy liberal mates.

    STATE FUNERAL FOR THATCHER!!!

she got rid of that godawful luke warm milk we were made to drink at primary school. And she made a fantastic spitting image puppet. God Bless her.

Glad she's with her beloved Dennis now.

Agree with both of your points. God, that milk was vile!

    She'll be remembered...

I won't post the rest of that remark as it isn't appropriate until after her funeral :p

Hopefully the faux socialists will give it a rest for the day and allow the moment to pass with dignity.

I doubt that will happen, doubt they know would know how too.

    Evil? Really?
As a woman, I see her as a good role model, someone who made it through an incredibly male dominated era and lead the country. Other than the queen there hasn't been another woman quite so powerful and influential.

I remember back when I was about 13 or 14(back in the early 90's) I was asked who I would rather be or have tea with(can't remember the question exactly), there were pictures of some useless celebs, pop stars and actresses and there was Maggie. And I said Maggie because she would be more interesting to talk to than a pop star.

Sky news reporting she will be accorded an Official Funeral. State Funerals are reserved for members of the Royal family.

Parliament can decide to give a full state funeral for people who have been deemed to have made profound contributions to the country (ie. Churchill, Lord Nelson, Isaac Newton). Rightly or wrongly, Margaret Thatcher was too divisive a figure for that.

RIP, the greatest Prime Minister that this country has ever had since Churchill. Had the courage of her conviction that today's politicians simply don't come close to having.

Nope but I make it that she owes me approx 45 pints of milk ;)

    What a horrible post.
I can't pretend that I am sad Margaret Thatcher has died as I didn't agree with a lot of her policies but to actively celebrate and revel in her death is in extremely poor taste. Grow up.

Couldn't stand the woman - hated her politics and all she stood for.
Can't say I am glad she is dead as I would not like to say that about anybody - but I am not weeping.

I really hope she is not given a state funeral.

    James Callahan died 2005
    Ted Heath died 2005

I meant to say a prime minister that I remember who was in term during my lifetime. I don't remember the other two sadly.
