It's number 7 now! Can't wait to see where it is in the midweek, hopefully it'll continue to rise. Lol and Bridgit is nothing like Jessie J who seems to have become yet another puppet.

    Bridgit is a puppet
    Jessie J. is a muppet

Subtle difference is that one is operated by the record company & the other sits in a big chair, wobbles her head about while opening her big gob. :p

Bridgit sounds like an American Jessie J on helium.

No, I personally wouldn't say she is. She hasn't relied on Disney to promote her music over here. :)

Who is she, her name sounds familiar?

    Anyway, the song is lame.
"I like your face, do you like my song?"
"You'll be my William, I'll be your Kate."

Sounds like a song Hannah Montana rejected.

I think some of you are forgetting who her target audience is... She's a fresh-out-of-the-box Disney candy. Of course the song is going to sound more Bubblegum than Pop. And anyway, who cares? She wrote the song herself, and she can actually hold a note (had to check live performances, but it's true). My personal opinion is that it's a nice rework of an old classic. I think she's used the sample very effectively. Fair play to her.

I think I heard my little Sister say she saw the video and was played a lot on Disney channel UK...... It's not a bad thing. Need to promote somewhere and a lot of Teens/kids watch the Disney channel.

Naturally they will play it on the Disney Channel, that's where most of her audience will be. But over here in the UK, they've been playing it on most mainstream music channels, and Capital put it on playlist. I don't think Disney really had much to do with that... She's not signed to Disney anyway. She may still have some form of contract with them for acting, but she's signed to Hollywood for music which, although tends to hold an artist catalog of Disney stars like Demi Lovato, isn't a Disney subsidiary company.

Yeah, I seen it on the music channels. But the OP stated Disney did not promote her but I was saying that the song has been played heavly on the Disney Channel UK (I believe before it hit the mainstream channels) which is not a bad thing, but kind of had an affect because I think my sister got the song.
For once my sister knew one song before I did :D

Actually if you read back I stated that she isn't relying on Disney entirely...:)

Ah so she's the latest Disney starlet attempting a music career. I think there are better songs out there that didn't get much love like La La Land by Demi Lovato and Lovesick by Emily Osment.

I saw the video a while ago and, not knowing the singer's name, guessed that she'd be called something like Brooke Mitchell. Well, I got the right initials!

Bridgit Mendler hits record among Disney stars with "Ready or Not"

The first single from "Hello My Name Is...", debut album of Bridgit Mendler, has completed 3 weeks in the top ten in the UK.

Moreover, Bridgit broke the record of two Disney stars Selena Gomez and Hilary Duff, who owned the singles with the largest number of weeks within the top 10 of UK. That's right, starting today, the record is "Ready or Not", which should soon receive silver disk in the country by 200 000 copies sold.

    :) She's doing really well!

It sounds like something that could've come out 10 years ago. That's not necessarily a criticism.

Absolutely Pitiful Cover - The worst since Mann and Snoop did Return of the Mack.

None of the haunting melody and rhythmic blues of the original.
