Everton finished runners up to Liverpool in 1986 and also lost the FA Cup final.
Man Utd did the runners up double in 1995 finishing 2nd in the league and losing the FA Cup final.
Sheffield Wednesday lost two cup finals to Arsenal in 1993
Any other unwanted losing doubles anyone can remember?

They were also League and League Cup runners up in 1987.
We can actually make this into an unwanted treble - they got relegated as well.
And there's also Chelsea: in 2008, they lost the League Cup and Champions League finals and finished second in the Premiership. (It was a horror season for Michael Ballack: as well as all that, he played for Germany in Euro 2008. In which they made the Final before losing to Spain.)
Leeds were going for 3 trophies league European cup & f a cup and lost the lot
The fact we had to play an f a cup final & reply & in between a two legged European cup semi final against Celtic and also 18 games in 38 days is something that wouldn't happen nowadays
and with a very small squad as well
Oh and also we had to play cup final in April due to Mexico 1970 & also on a Wembley pitch that had the horse of the year show the week before as well
bayer leverkusen did the same in 2002. germany lost the world cup final the same year just to further rub it in
Michael Ballack must have run over a black cat some time in 2001, the man was a curse!
He had mixed fortunes in 2010 too. Won the double but got injured in the Cup Final and missed the World Cup.
Of course, Norwich City who beat Sunderland also got relegated. From a position of being 8 points clear of the last relegation spot after finishing their season. Coventry still had 3 games left, were 9 points behind and won all three. Including beating the easy league champions that season, Everton!
