What was the last book you gave up on?
The last book I gave up on was Jamrach's Menagerie by Carol Birch. I started reading it over a year ago and never really got into it, I read half of it and since then it's been sitting on the side of my bed. Is it worth picking it up again?
The book I'm currently reading has been slow as well, Wild Swans by Jung Chang. This is partly because it's quite long and the chapters are also long as well, but the main reason is that I've been writing a lot rather than reading. I have less than 200 pages to go now though so I will get there!

Loved Wild Swans.
I've got got Fall of Giants to listen to on audio, it's at the bottom of my list.
I had three attempts and couldn't get into it at all on each occasion.
I'm plodding on with this, agree with all of your critiscisms but it's just about holding my interest (only 60 pages to go)
Agree with the Carte Blanche comment, I lasted about 10 pages before putting it down in disgust.
Catch 22 has been started and restarted on more occasions than I can remember and remains unfinished.
There have been a couple of the other halfs recommendations which were abandoned - one of Patricia Cornwells and Interview with a Vampire.
It's never a good sign when you know exactly what's going to happen from reading the blurb on the back, which I did with this book.
I'm a fan of Pillars and WWE but even I couldn't finish Fall of Giants, it was terrible
How strange, that's my favourite out of all seven!
usually finish a book out of stubborness.
But The furthest I got with Ulysses was
about three quarters of the way through
and I lost the will to live!
Finnegans Wake is a good one too,I love
the word creation/mangling in it,but never
get beyond about page six!
As far as given up and never going back to goes - I made it three quarters of the way through the first Twilight novel before giving up, and managed about a chapter of 50 Shades.
Yes, it was an uphill struggle at times but its one of those books you really have to finish to get the whole picture.
I had the same issue with Timothy Ferris' The Whole Shebang: A State-of-the-Universe(s) Report and I ended up taking it to a charity shop.
Also walked out of the 3 HP film, something I never ever do.
