So is John Hurt the next Doctor? Unlikely as Matt seemed to know what he had done. Which would make JH a past Doctor....Not sure how that would work but probably something that happened during the Time War between Eccleston and McGann.
Incredible, absolutely incredible. This could be the over-excitement talking but right at this moment that was Moffat's finest episode. How he managed to fit that into 45 minutes, without it feeling rushed and packing in that much emotion, I'll never know.
Surely he's the Valeyard? Given that they said he doesn't use the name of the Doctor, and that he's done something evil. Simeon didn't mention the Valeyard for nothing.
Either that, or he's the 9th, and all the others are one along from where we thought they were. Has it ever actually been said in the show, aside from just now, that Chris was 9, David was 10, and Matt was 11?
I will try and write something coherent later but right now? Tears! And joy! And amazement. That was 10/10. A genuine classic.
Thankyou Steven Moffat!
and John Hurt!
I cannot find the words. Brilliance from start to finish. Perfection.
Could he be the doctor who finished the Time War? So he is the 9th incarnation, but not the ninth doctor because what he did wasn't in the Name of the Doctor, but in his true name....
Bit of a mixed bag of an episode. Like the Series 6 finale, it was full of brilliant and wonderful ideas, but none of them felt sufficiently fleshed out.
I want to admit that some of that was brilliant. But as a complete episode, I feel somewhat disappointed, and why? The pacing, of course. As with nearly every episode of Series 7, this just felt a bit hollow and rushed.

We've had 3 young Doctor's. Its time to have an older one with more gravitas. John Hurt is a ****ing EXCELLENT actor and Doctor.
I hate you need a degree in Dr Who to understand a single episode.
agree
Anyone got a TARDIS I can borrow so I can just pay a visit to November 23rd?
Exactly what I was hoping for and exactly what makes the current team fantastic.
Incredible!
David and Matt

That's how I saw it. Whatever the 'Hurt Doctor' did it was out of character for whatever reason he did it.
People owe him an apology!!!
Wow wow wooooooooooooooooooooow!!!
Oh and wow. :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Or he could be the first Doctor and William Hartnell was the second doctor.
I would say not....spoilers!
