I am absolutely sickened by this news. All muslims in this country need to come out and condemn this act. If this was done in the name of my religion I would certainly do so. There is something intrinsically wrong with a religion that breeds such violence. I understand that the majority of muslims are peaceful - I know many - but this is insane. How can this be tolerated?
I guarantee you that if the "moderates" did condemn this act, should it be proven to be a 'terrorist' attack, then your garden variety islamophobe would simply say it was "not enough".
I can certainly understand why the "moderates" don't say anything because they'll largely be ignored anyway.

You have to remember their human rights though. They'll need their comforts, or we get sued.
Although you don't lose your designation of being human through doing an inhumane act - something people do to distance themselves from what the breadth of being human entails, as it encompasses great acts of kindness and wickedness - we don't imprison criminals and then add torture.
