But no-one is saying it does, in fact it's the other way round, people are using the sin of other religions to excuse those of Islam. Theres plenty of threads about the evil of Christianity, but you rarely see the problems with Islam used as a counter-argument. But whenever theres a thread about Islam, suddently we see lots of comparisons with Christianity.
I was about to say this. Anything negative that's Islam related and other religions are always brought up and often the comparisons are tenuous.

Fair point. I guess I just think blaming the religion is allowing those that carry out these act an easy absolution for what they do. If we, however, blame one religion for the sins of the faithful then surely we much blame all religions for the sins of there faithful and then, do we not also have to blame them, for the good of the faithful ?
Here's some perspective: no way are those good figures. To me it demonstrates the horrible, true depth of the problem - there are seven countries where more than half the population have been brainwashed into thinking that if people choose a different religion, or none at all, they should be killed.
When we add in all the "under 50%" (are we supposed to think that's an acceptable benchmark, or something?) that's a huge number of people.
It's bizarre how some think that because over 50 percent of the population in 7 countries believe those who decide not to submit to Islam should be butchered, then that somehow it's evidence that Islam is the so-called "Religion of Peace".

Yes - seeing such figures trotted out to suggest Islam is "not as bad as people think" is laughable.
Imagine if mainly/ token Christian or mostly secular countries were asked "Do you think people who become Muslims should be put to death?". The answer would be a resounding "No" across the board.

Indeed. I think one of the reasons so many Muslims have such horrific views, is because the Koran is very specific on the subject of leaving the "religion/ideology". Allah himself is extremely clear on the penalty for abandoning Islam.
I'm fairly well-read, have friends of different backgrounds etc etc.. I'm not a right-wing nutter or an islamophobe. But yesterday's atrocity is being whitewashed by numerous posters repeating ad nauseum that other religions are just as bad.
So?
If it was committed by hardliner catholics, I'd be more interested in discussing catholicism - what went wrong, and where and so on - than bringing up other religions to somehow discredit their involvement in the first place? As many of our islamic community leaders have said in the last few years - particularly the last few months - openness and honesty about the problems with modern Islam and its intergration into modern western society need to be discussed openly and resolved. The apologists are not helping the cause whatsoever.
That would be fantastic, but something tells me that is probably a non-starter, and if attempted then it wouldn't go down particuarly well!
If such an act 'didn't go down too well' then that tells every non-Muslim all we need to know.
I would also like to see Muslim communities work with the police to eradicate the extremists. One example could be for peaceful Muslims to go undercover at extremist mosques and provide evidence for the police.
Even now in Uganda been Homosexual is punishable by death because that is what the Christian Bible says
It is not what the bible says.
Homosexuality is just one of many sins mentioned in the bible. In Gods eyes a sin is a sin be it gluttony, lying, stealing, lusting after a woman or homosexuality.
I would suggest they are being rather hypocritical if the death sentence does not apply to all sin. Did they not even read about Jesus who told the would be killers "he who is without sin cast the first stone"?
What they are doing has nothing to do with Christianity.

Or they could just go in such mosques on mass - after all these are religious buildings of their religion - and take them back for the peaceful adherents. An admirable and practical expansion of "Not in my name".

That sounds like a good idea too. I'm surprised things like this haven't happened already.

They would never inform on their own like that. No muslim would.
Or since their book permits lying and tricking "infidels" they could hardly be trusted, surely.
Islam IS a peaceful religion, it's a beautiful religion if you look into it properly. Just because there's a pocket of nutcase terrorists who call themselves Muslim doesn't mean that everyone else who practices the religion is a potential terrorist
Perspective is needed, not all Christians are saints by any stretch of the imagination.
Religion? I hate it and I'm not in any camp but I can see further than an inch beyond the end of my nose.
Surely you can see the difference!?
Jesus commands us to love our enemies.
Mohammed told his followers to spread islam by any means, be it killing, lying, or waging war (with the bonus of "helping themselves" to the women of the defeated foe).
Comedians are happy to make jokes about Jesus and Christianity, but know they would face being killed if they did the same about Islam and Mohammid so dont, I think that sums up the religion.

Who has excused anything? Find one post that excuses yesterday's actions or any act of violence.
The point is, there exists a perception that Islam is uniquely violent. Not only is this false, but it allows people to get on a moral high horse and is even exploited different extremists.
And the bible permits a whole list of nasties including execution, rape, subjugation of women etc.
But you just try to jump for the moral highground...
Again, some knowledge of the new testament would help us have a meaningful exchange. The wars the Jews found themselves in have nothing to do with how Jesus tells Christians to live.

Refusing to condemn all Muslims I see....you leftie Marxist apologist.

Then the argument from that must be to them that you are either with us or against us.
If they did how many would call it a PR stunt I wonder. It's the nature of things alas.

Try telling them that.
It would be great if we had leaders with some backbone eh? You and I know all we will hear is appeasement and the old "religion of peace" mantra.
I wonder how the last PM we had with any balls would have handled it. Thatcher was ten times the man Cameron will ever be.
Still, I was so pleased to hear that he won't buckle...behind his round the clock armed protection.
Appeasement of whom ? As for "the old "religion of peace" mantra" do you know who the last politician was to use that ?

And what exactly is it that you want Cameron to do, launch a 'crusade' against Islam?
