It's here, it really is.
Pics have leaked - with the sensor and without the sensor.
What a hump! Love the all black look too. As you can see it looks to be made from the same polycarbonate plastic used for the Lumia 920. To be released later this Summer.

That hump is damn ugly!! Looks like the device is confused, a camera bursting out of a phone's body hehe.
I guess it will be impressive as a shooter though, but the hump just aint doing it for me.
Compared to the likes of the Galaxy S4 and even the iPhone 5, Note2 and S3, the objective benefits are marginal.
One wonders whether Nokia would've been better off simplying buying in better-quality third-party sensors than going to the expense of developing the PureView tech.
A great camera is Nokia's USP. now that phones run third party OS's you needs a USP.
When you say objective do you mean subjective?
I say this because the DxOMark website that you link to rate the 16-month-old yours-for-£300 Nokia 808 pureview as the best camera phone.
You would have to imagine the next one would be even better.
It's not so much that that's what they think but it's what they have that is a differentiator.
It's not like they are saying, you can have a super camera and everything else in the phone will be rubbish.
Nokia have also been trying to innovate in location-based services - e.g. with their Here suite of apps.
The 41MP will still be a headline grabber at least.
There was something up with that DXO mark test, iirc the low light test was marked down, despite it giving better performance than others that they've tested. Despite that, its still head an shoulders above the rest, even on that one set of tests.
Assuming that the EOS is using an evolution of the 808 sensor, its image quality should be way ahead of the competition. The S4 is the closest, but its still way behind on still imaging and video ability.
And while a lot of people don't really care that much about image quality, they can appreciate the imaging ability of the 808 - I know it gives about 95% of the basic quality of my DSLR (its an older 10mp Sony Alpha), albeit without the same flexibility brought about by lenses.
Pureview - at least in the 41mp 808 form really does offer real world benefits.

If a great camera is indeed a USp for Nokia then why have they failed to put one on any Lumia? Or at least why have they been unable to fully exploit the cameras in WP8 devices? They let them down with poor firmware. Is that a Nokia thing or a WP8 thing?
Just goes to show that everyone is just guessing.
Elsewhere there are claims that its going to offer OIS and variable aperture (last seen in the N86) instead of the ND filter.
From the pics there's no obvious sign of the 808s stereo microphones (which are perfectly placed).
It'll be good if Nokia can release something with a decent camera, unlike the 920 which is just average at best.
They said that WP8 didn't allow them the flexibility to do everything they wanted with the cameras.
But that is what this phone is.
It's still not clear if it is genuine. But if yes, you want to provide best camera on the mobile market, you do not want to make compromises. You either make the whole camera thicker or you create a hump.
Not debating that, simply highlighting that the difference in quality between the 808 and other manufacturers' handsets is far smaller than the differences between other manufacturers' handsets and the likes of the Lumia 920.
You would but not necessarily to such a large degree that it would be right to refer to it as a 'super camera'.
What a surprise.
It scores the same as the 808 for video and is only a couple of points lower for still images - hardly 'way behind'.
Since it's all over the web and pictures are pouring in from multiple sources (and they all look the same), I'd give it a 9/10 in the rum-o-meter.
Given that the phone will need a cover like the Nokia 925 for wireless charging (look at the two metal contacts) which will likely bring the back out to something near to flat, I don't understand why they didn't include wireless charging in the phone housing and bulk the entire thing out. Are people really after a razor thin phone with a massive bulge on the back?
In every other comparison the 808 has been way ahead. In low light (ie. using xenon) the 808 is indecently far ahead. Pureview "oversampling" has been demonstrated time and time again to give indecently good results. Anyone who claims otherwise has their head firmly buried in the sand.
And as for audio recording, the S4 isn't even in the same ballpark. Bland, horrible, flat audio. No dynamic range, etc. etc.
Seems weird to put an AMOLED screen on this rather than IPS LCD.
So you take amazing pictures and then they get misrepresented by the oversaturated screen?
Maybe it wont be oversaturated?
I don't think i would assume that a new pnone would have the same problems as an old phone.
frankly i'm happy with the colour reproduction of my N8. and would imagine that coming up to three years later, this will be better.
It's inherent in the technology - the Galaxy S line still has these issues compared to the iPhone and HTC One.
We can expect it to be pretty similar to Nokia's recent amoled on either the 928 or 925 (can't remember which).
It's also likely to be PenTile.
Inherent in the technology. Got you.
The screen is used more for composition.
41mp is not (normally) used in that mode, its more frequently used in 5 or 8mp mode to give lossless zoom or much improved image quality.
And I'd happily take the 808 with its AMOLED screen over my iPhone4S - you really can't see the iPhones screen that well in bright sunshine, no such issues with the 808 (due to the CBD layer).
