I missed it this week - thought it was series-linked but obviously not!
Anyone know if it's repeated? My internet speed is rubbish so if I tried ITV player I'd still be trying to watch it by the time the next one airs!
Yes, it's going to be repeated Wed 26 Jun at 11:35 p.m. but of course that is after the first showing of episode 4, which by the way is at 9:45 p.m. next Saturday, not 10 p.m.
I'm quite enjoying it, which says a lot as I'm not usually into non-fiction as it requires too much suspension in credibility, which I find difficult.
I still think the power balance will have to shift, as an American audience would never stick with 26 episodes showing the FBI as a bunch of incompetent fools. How anyone could possibly be rooting for Phillip and Elizabeth I can't understand. I want to see them hanging upside down with electrodes attached to their dangly bits as soon as possible (which won't happen of course - it would be game over).

It's a cable show so has a far fewer episode count per season - only 12 for the first one.
She was played by the actress who was "Mags Bennett" in "Justified", so I knew she was evil as soon as I saw her!

Thanks for that - can only look up to a week ahead on my EPG! I'd read a few times that if you make it to episode 3 you'll be hooked, so I really didn't want to miss this one!
I'm not convinced this will survive its run on ITV1...the reason...no adverts. Advertisers will only pay money when they think somebody is going to watch the show. The Americans has hardly any adverts, a sure sign they have no trust in it. I can see it ending up either very late at night or on ITV 3/4 and the next series on ITV3/4, if they even bother buying it.
The first episode was good, the 2nd was mediocre.
I thought the reason there were so few adverts was because ITV used up all their allotted advert time for that hour, or whatever, in the program that is on before it?

Yes, the idea that not enough advertisers want to run ads during The Americans to fill 60 minutes is ridiculous. ITV is doing what they are doing on purpose.
New series often take a while to settle down and since they usually put the most effort (and money) into the pilot then it's not unusual for the second episode to be a slight disappointment. I'd just say give it until episode 4 - if you don't like it by then you are never going to like it. No spoilers, but ep 4 does feature a major historic event from the early 80s. I thought that was one of the best episodes of any TV show of the last year.

I find this to be true more often these days, particularly of really good US dramas. It normally takes 4-5 episodes for a season/series to find its feet.
Also agree with the pilot/2nd episode comment. If I had to put the episodes in order of quality, it'll be pliot (1st), 3rd episode (2nd, but in terms of characterisation it'll be 1st instead of the pilot) and the 2nd episode at a distant 3rd.
Am I being stupid (don't answer that!) but I cannnot find The Americans on ITV Player on my TV, although its all present and correct on my computer?
I couldn't find it either, using my cable connection. I had to use my PC to catch up on the second episode, as my Humax PVR missed the last 2 or 3 minutes.
Sorry to appear sarcastic, but there are so many inane questions on this thread. Do people not have the ability to watch, concentrate and follow a plot or storyline for less than an hour any more ?

A great series so far, I am loving it.
Wow. Who got out of bed the wrong side this morning. An inane question to you is just a simple question to others. If you can't be civil with your answer, then don't bother answering at all. It just makes you look like an ignorant moron.

Firstly I would check the T&Cs if I were you.
Secondly I think I was rather civil. I did after all apologise for appearing sarcastic.

Paige is 13, I was left alone over-night regularly from the age of 13 onwards (I do not have younger siblings though).

That's what stopped me from watching The Walking Dead. So many adverts it spoiled it completely for me.

I thought somebody said 13 + 13 had already been made? I guess that included the pilot.
Season one consists of the pilot + 12 episodes. A second season of 13 episodes has been ordered.

ordered by ITV?
Ordered in the US by FX, but ITV also bought the rights to season two.
Excellent, thank you for info.

I'm not sure they've bought the rights to show it on catch-up.
Who do you think ?

Thank you so much spaniel lover. I missed that part because I got a call. Wasn't sure if it was the husband or wife or one of the other Russkies.

Your turn.
