Assuming so, bringing his sexuality into the argument (with the ass comment clearly does) is homophobic as would calling him a n-word would be if he was black.
It's possible to insult people who you don't like while leaving slurs out of it.
I said before it was homophobic language but that I agreed with you that death does funny things to people etc!
Maybe he is not keen on gays and its shows in his words. Does not means he is homophobic, which means a strong aversion. Strong aversion indicates moving close to hate.
I am not keen on clingy people. Does not mean I have a strong aversion to them. Personally I have no problem with gay people, but that does not mean I believe everybody has to like them.
How the f**k is that homophobic, plenty of straight guys like things delivered via the tradesman's too.
Yes and many gay people don't care for it.
This doesn't detract from the fact he was using a stereotype that gays like it up the tradesman's to insult the gay guy.
Yep, it was a bit much, but a) death does funny things to people and, b) it doesn't mean that Alec is homophobic.
So for me, it's a bit 'meh'. A guy accuses a woman of doing something bad at a funeral. Womans husband kicks off in defence. End of.
This is where I would fall. His statements were a problem with an individual, not a group of people and its all in the context really.
To call an individual a queen isn't homophobic, to call gays queens as a statement sure, but maybe the guy is? And I've heard women called queens before, its not a term exclusive to gay guys.
And his second statement, is clearly a dig at an individual than a statement applied to a whole group.
I'm surprised anyone got upset about it, other than who it was directed at. If his wife wasn't tweeting at the funeral then I don't see how people can fly off the handle at it tbh.

As Corporal Jones would say, "They don't like it up 'em".
I don't know. I suppose some gay people may be offended by it while others wouldn't.
He does seem to have an 'anger management problem' though, remembering how he talked to his daughter a few years ago. Perhaps he should stay off twitter while he is in this frame of mind.
Alec Baldwin has been a strong advocate for gay rights for many years. I think the tweets were a snap response probably as soon as he found out what had been said. He was probably still mourning the loss of his friend and was angry the Daily Fail made a false allegation about his wife.
(I'm probably a bit bias though because I love Alec Baldwin, especially in 30 Rock, and I hate the Newspaper!)
Yes, of course his tweets were homophobic. Obviously. Massively.
He might have had good reason to be angry, but that doesn't change the fact that he chose to express that anger in homophobic terms (attacking the guy's sexuality, not his behaviour.) Whether he's generally a massive homophobe I don't know - I think it's more likely he's just an utter tosser with a huge anger management problem. There've been plenty of examples of that - him leaving a shouty ranty voicemail for his 11-year-old daughter is the one I remember. But that doesn't mean what he said wasn't homophobic.

Yes, I think the comments were homophobic. Alec Baldwin has actually been very supportive of LGBT issues in the US however. so I guess he was doing as many people have done when angry, use insulting language that in more sober moments they would be appalled at.
Comments
How about threatening to put your foot up their arse, and they would enjoy it?
That part is particularly violent. Maybe so.
I am not keen on clingy people. Does not mean I have a strong aversion to them. Personally I have no problem with gay people, but that does not mean I believe everybody has to like them.
No-one who says they're going to put their foot up someone's arse on Twitter is actually going to put their foot up someone's arse.
People have been arrested for less credible threats on twitter.

Some gay people are twunts and need to be told so!

I know, just clarifying my own thoughts

Particularly violent? Don't be silly now.
As for the comments, no, they were not homophobic in the slightest
Why not? Comments implying homosexuality are quite often used to insult straight men.
So you can stick your foot up someone's ass in a non-violent way then? I've never been to that area of youporn, so you're the expert!
It's a bloody joke for gods sake. I think a child would understand that.
There is a huge difference between a joke and someone actually doing something...
It was either a joke or he was saying it in anger, I'm not sure it can be both.
Sounds like more of an empty threat to me, rather than playful banter.
Again, i'm sure even a child can understand the difference...
I'm not saying he can't say it. I'm saying its homophobic.

Um yes, jokes are funny. Threats are made when you are angry.
If I hated you and you were black, I wouldn't call you n-word. If we were joking around I might get away with it.
