Hi there, I just recently bought a new HD ready tv, this one and slightly panicked thinking that it might not work on the next generation consoles.
Anyone tech savvy and knows if it's okay or if I'm stuffed. Much appreciated.

It's a 1366x768 pixel screen, rather than 1920x1080 so you won't get all the detail possible, but it should still give decent results.
I don't think the TV can accept a 1080p signal, the down scaling will have to be done by the console. Also I disagree that the difference is neglegable, I can easily tell the difference on my 32 inch gaming TV (I do sit about a 1.5 meters away though).
You're within the optimal viewing distance then. You really need to be sitting closer than 6ft to tell the difference at that size.
I woud agree with that, if I were to sit 2 meters or more away I probably wouldn't be able to tell if its 720 or 1080.
I guess it depends on the setting, in a games room you will often be closer than say a living room (which 32 inch would be to small for IMO)
Depends on the size and orientation of your living room as well as personal preference, I would've thought.
I'm very happy with a 32" screen in my living room and we sit about 2-3 metres from it. Spent twenty-odd years watching telly on smaller CRT screens at bigger distances so that does me right for the home
The only thing I'd say is why go for 720p when you could get 1080p and know for certain that you're safe?
I agree, you can get a branded 1080p TV for £200 so I see no reason why you would plunge for 720p.
Because he's already bought it?
(Although I agree with you .... I would have gone full HD as well ....)
I definitely think my 40" 1080p is markedly better than 720p.
Reminds me of when I got my first 360, we only had a 28" widescreen CRT at the time and some games with text (Oblivion, for example) were a nightmare. When we got our HD screen in 2007 it was like someone had scrubbed my eyes

So when setting up your console, just like existing machines, choose a resolution output that doesn't exceed your panel resolution (or choose '720p' if that's a quick option).
If they're similar to the existing generation, they'll start up initially at a lower resolution and let you choose your default setup, so it should work out of the box anyway - but look better once you choose a matching output for your screen.
