Yeah I'm not a fan of Windows 8 myself (well the new metro interface to be more specific) but you can revert to the old desktop you are used to if you want.

It used to just be a reasonable length of time which was took to mean 10 working days which is where my mistake came from.

7 days does not equal 7 working days, it is in fact at least 9 days. Nothing pedantic about it, it's simply not the same thing.
