Another attempt by Google to get into the TV market. ONLY £25 !
If it had access to the Play Store it would be hands-down a good choice.
EDIT it does !

But yes, possibly.
Being a fellow Netflix subscriber it would save me £18, if this device is £30 the actual outlay for us will only be £12 so I see what you mean
I wonder if this thing will handle the likes of YouTube in 1080P?
If it can do that, and play my files from my PC (some of which are HD) then I'll be very tempted.
Looks like a nice idea though. And very competatively priced ....
From the presentation it seemed to indicate that it can play 1080p from YouTube.
Funny reading so many comments on the Daily Mail site (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2377231/Google-takes-aim-Apple-TV-new-device-brings-YouTube-Netflix-living-room-costs-just-22.html) that "you just need to use a HDMI cable" which kind of misses the point. Who wants a cable trailing across the room?
The main limitation at the moment seems to be that it cannot stream local content (such as from a NAS). Hopefully that will come along soon.
I seldom click in this forum and was about to post elsewhere.

I sort of like it in that it encourages everyone else to also do cross platform stuff.
But what I do'nt like is that it also seems to monopolise media supply. So we have the Google tax, and a tax dodging one at that!
Even if its just to "Chromecast" what is in my browser window to my TV. Opens up a new world of movie and sports streams without having to pay Sky etc for the privelige!
Exactly - BT Sport for one which I can get with my BB Subscription but have no means of getting it onto the TV !
It won't be much good for that.
Effectively in that case it just takes a webcam image of the action and forwards it on to the Chomekey. It'll look crappy, and won't cope with fast motion well at all.
it's more like a remote control. that the device you are using tells the dongle to go and do what is necessary and the dongle goes off and does it independently.
Everything streams direct from Google.
They will have as likely as not cobbled it together Raspberry Pi like.
So 128 or 256MB of Ram? My guess is 256MB for an extremely cut down Apple TV like Chrome OS.
I don't know whether it will be worth switching.
It streams from Google? Where did you hear that?
My understanding is that it streams directly from the provider. So if you use the iPhone Netflix app, the video streams directly from Netflix.
Its certainly also got screen mirroring, and by the sound of it should be easily tweaked into an XBMC like media player.
The spec in fact seems a reasonable high end stick.
