Channel 4 has finally done it, they are the dirty network for dirty people.
I should think there is no chance of a turn-around now, CH4s former demographic probably consider CH4 as they would consider an open sewer or a sexually transmitted disease.
Quite an achievement to make CH5 look superior. And CH5 can build on that and become more mainstream.
2 revived reality series went head to head in Australia last night. X Factor returned for its 5th season (and the 4th since its successful 2010 revival) with 1.63m viewers, it's best ever premiere figure. That topped the 1.31m for Big Brother, which returned to Australian screens last year having been axed in 2008. That's a decent result for the show, down just a bit from the 1.42m who tuned in last year.
What's with the extra five minutes? (if it's 9 hours each day)
It works out as...
Saturday - 6-9.30am; 11.15am-6.30pm. Sunday 6-10am; 3.45-7.05pm.
So Breakfast, with its massive audience shares, will only be on BBC News it seems. Long, long time since there's been two consecutive days on BBC One without Breakfast I'd imagine.

BB beat X Factor in 16-39 and 18-49. Nine have to be pleased with that.

Huge commitment that, and great to see that from them, as they could have took the easy route and put it on BBC Two.
Coverage of the Monday is 06:15 to 10:35 and then 15:30 to 19:30 on BBC Two - I assume it is on BBC Two then for the remainder of the week.
That was unexpected. I don't recall seeing it advertised whilst watching C4 itself all afternoon (C4 Racing) but there was stuff for The Mill.
I agree. It was another brilliant CSI NY episode, that twist at the end with Ava actually being the killer!:) Hopefully, it goes above 1.9m tonight but perhaps not...
Don't think people are bothered about Breakfast on a weekend anyway
Saturday Breakfast rates highly, particularly as it runs until 10am.
Sunday Breakfast less so as its done by 9am at the latest, most people are still in bed, and it is presented by a rotating 'C' team of about half a dozen different presenters.

.
No sign of Father Figure, with Big School being paired with repeats of Mrs Brown's Boys, it has disappeared from the programme information for that week as well.
Hmm, that is interesting, especially as Jason Byrne's already started plugging it, he was on 6 Music today.
I listened back - Byrne said Father Figure starts "mid-September". Time for me to re-draft the draft schedule... Amusingly, Digiguide has designated Big School's genre as "Children's".
...Same with Sky Atlantic, everyone assumed it would be imports and then they said it wasn't, but they didn't say what it was.
It was bonkers - top-drawer American telly, plus....an Ann Widdecombe-fronted quiz show. Multichannels need to go for a genre, or demographic niche, and stick to it.

Still room for bloody Saturday Kitchen then!
Surprised the morning weekend sessions aren't on BBC2 to give BBC1/2 a better schedule overall. It would make sense to move the MOTD repeat to BBC2 as well and let Breakfast run through to 9am on Sundays too.
ED seems to have been given a great boost by this Gennie thing fair play to it.
It is also getting quite a lot of benefit from the weak 7pm programming on BBC One at the moment. With daytime repackages, Panorama, Nigel Slater repeats and narrative Question of Sport repeats, Emmerdale is likely to be ahead of EastEnders all this week.

The 7pm show last night did well and better than The One Show does in the Summer on Mondays and Emmerdale still best EastEnders though, so it can't just be that.
A Saturday Kitchen compilation. However, the athletics is quiet at that time, with only the men's decathlon shot put at 09:20 and then nothing until the marathon final at 11:00, so it makes sense.

I guess, having wrested back the rights, they want to maximise the audience for the athletics (at weekends anyway). And I bet the MOTD repeat wouldn't do half as well, just by being on BBC Two.
the Sheriffs Are Coming doing very well there is that higher then the One show normally gets?
Similar numbers, but not sure how many of them are the people who usually watch BBC One at 7pm. I think a fair few regulars have drifted off to Emmerdale, as I predicted they would when I saw the schedules.
Just had a look back on YouView to find there was no Morning Line this morning. Why not C4 ? Glorious Goodwood is a big meeting in the flat racing calendar. And why does coverage cut off at 4pm for a programme that has rapidly diminished in popularity.
Same old C4. Snaffle up sports rights, then get bored with them: see also Test and County cricket, Athletics...

You can hardly call The Dales, Nature's Newborns, Tonight and Harbour Lives difficult competition for EE though

Seven tends to skew older though and get larger figures, and BB is going to drop like a stone very quickly, last year it was getting half of its launch figure, which was 1.61m, I expect this year will go the same way ending up with 0.7-0.9m most shows, nine have even moved the sunday show to saturday which makes you think they only have the show to fill 3 months worth of 7pm slots with something other than big bang repeats. X Factor is unlikely to drop, and the appalling please marry my boy pulled in good demo figures after the x factor, surprised ITV have not inflicted this turd on the great british public considering Granada produce it

I noticed that too. Whilst it's good they're promoting their shows, I do wonder how much extra they are spending on advertising by doing this.

18 hours of studio chat...

Geninue laughter at this!
They've got strong performers like 24 Hours in A&E, One Born Every Minute, Undercover Boss...
Lots of New original dramas.... The Mill, Southcliffe, Run, This is England '90 etc...
Lots of first run movie premieres
A hugely successful US import in Homeland, and the eagerly awaited critics choice honoree for most exiting new series Masters of Sex..
A very fresh/new mashup in 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
It still has a long way to go but its doing alot of things right.

It will be interesting to see how much of an uplift the BBC News channel gets in the early morning.
Yes, Digiguide suggests so.

Thanks for that spoiler.
