The XBox One/PS4 dilemma.
It's probably been asked so many times already, but I'm after opinions re which to get.
I had the PS1 many moons ago, but thereafter I've had the XBOX & 360 up until now. However my mates & their friends are getting the PS4, so I don't want to be left out of that. With that and the much lower price plus POTENTIAL privacy/security concerns on the Kinnect 2 I'm veering towards getting the PS4.
However, in the long term I think the XBOX One might be the better machine, mainly because Kinnect 2 comes with it rather than being a separate add on so games makers will utilise it more in their products rather than it being something that ends up gathering dust. I'd prefer the option of turning the Kinnect completely off though when I wanted. Also I know XBO has a HDMI in & out, but don't know enough about it to effect my choice.
Re games, most will be on both consoles, but being an XBOX owner for so long I'm more familiar with their exclusives (HALO, GOW etc...). That and I've got a certain sense of guilt in maybe getting a PS4 after so many years
Most of the ticked boxes on my list say to get the PS4, mainly as people I know are getting it. But I've got this feeling that in the long term it might not be the right choice.

Take a peek at the announced games for Xbox One. The triple-A titles that you'll likely want to buy and play over and over. Then take a look at how they interact with Kinect.
Pretty short list, huh?
Ryse even began life as a Kinect-orientated game!
The HDMI-in and out won't affect you too much. The TV service is only available to the US at launch, and they haven't even said 'with Europe, xyz countries to follow' which makes me think that the TV service in other territories is a long way away.
However, you can still plug things in (like a PS3) and say XBOX TV and play your PS3 through your Xbox One, but really unless you bought a £99 TV and only have one HDMI slot I don't see it's worth for that scenario.
Sony always wins baby, you can't beat Sony.
i kinda was leaning towards the One, but the only exclusives i like is Halo and Gears Of War.
But then thought, i could pick them up this time next year when they're released
Go PS4
Personal opinion - right here, right now, the PS4 is the obvious choice. It's cheaper, more powerful, isn't laden with unnecessary extras, and seems focused on GAMES. It's apparent popularity over the Xbox One makes it likely to be better supported with a more vibrant online community.
That's not to say the Xbox One will flop, or won't be able to deliver some stunning experiences, but the launch so far has been shambolic with a confused direction, mixed messages and draconian policies.
So I'll be buying PS4 at launch, and then considering Xbox One at a later date if / when it proves it's got what it takes to deliver a killer experience.
You can always get your second choice console in a few years when the price drops or if they release 'slim' versions.
Happy gaming.
My honest opinion, google both, decide which one has more games that you'll buy and there you go you have your console
Why do you need validation from other people on what to spend about £500 of your own money when all is said and done
If you can't decided between the two after weighing up every option then perhaps the answer is neither for the time being
A certain amount of familiarity and loyalty, plus my thinking longterm it would be a better machine, says get XBO.
I'll probably gonna go PS4. As said above I can always get XBO in the future if it ends up being better.
Well I've looked into it quite a lot, specs, games etc...and when I'm potentially spending quite a lot of money forums like Digital Spy can be very helpful for opinions, that's what they are for. Same as YOUTUBE and magazines. I certainly don't need any kind of validation.
I suppose I could be patient and see which turns out to be the better, but that could take quite a while & I'm just as impatient as the other 98.5% of the gaming community to get hold something new.:D
Yep, that's the main reason for getting the PS4.
I know why you are and if you've looked everywhere else it is probably best to ask on a forum
But on every single thread that has been started like this be it for X1/PS4 or PS3/360 it always turns in an argument, so its starts to get a little frustrating when a new one starts up
My opinion on which one to get for what it's worth is the PS4, don't get me wrong some of the X1 exclusives look great, but for me far more exclusives look better/ more interesting on PS4
Not to mention the fact with Plus being mandatory on PS4, you'll be getting at least 12 free games a year for PS4 (and over 70 free games a year when you factor in the PS3 and vita games)
If your not worried about getting it within the launch window you could just hold off until a couple of months after release to let things settle down.
I'm going for X1 due to the exclusive games and controller.
im getting the xbox one mainly because of xbox live as most games will be released on both consoles.
Everybody wins
Now that's the kind of wife all us gamer's would like lol even better if she's into gaming too
At this point though unless all of your friends are hardcore gamers buying a new system on release day you will be the friend setting the trend for the systems they buy if you're the day one purchaser of a console amongst your group of friends.
i am not a huge game by any means and i will be using the console to play mainly NBA 2K14/NBA Live 14, COD and Fifa 14.
I havent owned a console since PS1, so i cant really say im up to date with the gaming scene.
I want my console for watching movies as well, as i dont own a blu ray player or anything so basically i want the console for multi media purposes as well.
is this to me?
Yes. Forgot to quote.
