Well, I normally love Boris in everything but he wasn't right for this show....too serious, even though the Syria problem is not frivolous. His comment about Hitler not using chemical weapons was just too bizarre. What where they using in the GAS chambers! ( sorry for the serious post)
Anyway, just wanted to post to say the the Last Leg is the only thing on TV that I really look forward too. Loved the reference to David Frost......it's what makes this programme stand out from the rest.
I'm a huge fan of Boris usually, but it was all getting a bit too serious and awkward when he brought up the bizarre Hitler comment. I did have a good giggle at the Australian Sex Party segment though!

I agree
Just caught up and really enjoyed it as always even if it was bit serious towards the end

The Gas chambers was what Adam was alluding to, hence Boris mentioning in the battlefield/open warfare.
Whatever a gas chamber is it's targetted, not indiscriminate.
Anyway and flow that there was, was ruined by Boris and his endless fumfering.
Only half watched it, in the end, only way to get through it.

I love this show, and Boris always seems entertaining, but....
"Even Hitler never used chemical weapons" he said, but immediately realised that this was a monumental gaffe and backtracked with his comments as Adam chipped in very uncomfortably. Hitler of course is the biggest mass murderer using chemicals in the history of mankind at 6 million with Zyklon B. The fact that he did not use it in open warfare is surely irrelevant in the scheme of things. Boris's mouth always runs about 5 seconds ahead of his mind. It was crass and I think Adam picked up on the collective sharp intake of breath from the audience when Boris said it.
Talking about that subject did not sit well on this show and it should have been left alone. It could only ever have a been a subject to flatten the jovial programme atmosphere.
I used to like Boris but I can see how he manipulates audiences like a typical politician these days. It really annoyed me at the end when he decided to start politicking and moralising at the public for not wanting to intervene in Syria. A politician being pious of all people! You could even see his face change when he started going into oily 'politician mode' to address the audience.
I think what irritates me the most about the current crop of mainly public school educated politicians is that you can tell they view us like idiotic proles who need to be herded and hectored and that's why I will never vote for any of their parties. They should be able to accept that every poll on this issue has shown that the public is strongly opposed to intervention. What's more we said that via our elected representatives in parliament but they can't just leave it there and instead keep telling us we're wrong. He must be about the 8th Tory politician that has done that now. I wouldn't mind but haven't we said we've sent or are sending £52 million?! Far more than most other countries have sent - even though Syria is nothing to do with us as it's not one of our former colonies. They have got to get over this idea that we have to intervene everywhere 'cause 'We're British' but it's the old Empire mentality. They seem to have to try to keep the pretension up that we're a 'global player' even though these days we're a mid-sized power as a country, our deficit is terrifying, society is crumbling, unemployment is ridiculous and we can't look after the poor, disabled and elderly. I want them to concentrate on this country for a change instead of trying to act all macho, playing toy soldiers with Obama on one of his excursions.
BARB's reading a couple of weeks ago says 1.2m and was C4's 22nd highest rating show of the week. I suspect the show will become more of a cult thing.
Hmm that surprises me - I thought it would be ranked higher than that although I guess the actual rating isn't too bad. They seem to get some pretty famous guests on though.
Stewart Lee touched upon this in one of his gigs. While Jimmy Carr performs this material with a sense of irony, Jim Davidson just seems to complain and mock. It's one thing to make a joke about Adam Hills and say "he's legless when he's drunk" or something, but to say something like "why the **** has Adam Hills got one leg? I think it's hilarious watching him hobble around" is just offensive, and that's more or less the sort of nature Davidson's material was quoted as being. He wasn't making jokes about Paralympians. He was saying how he can't help but laugh at them, and how he doesn't like "midgets".
It's always seemed obvious to me that Jimmy Carr's style is to mock the pre-conceptions and prejudices etc around disability, not the actual disability itself. It seems really obvious that his act is virtually the opposite of Davidson's. It's not a simple case of "jokes about disability = bad", or The Last Leg itself would be in trouble.
It was telling that it was soldiers with amputations that were defending Carr while the Daily Mail was trying to make out he was mocking them. They knew they weren't being mocked. They knew he was mocking the situation, which is a totally different matter.
Davidson is plain mean.
The Last Leg isn't a mega-ratings hit, but it seems to be really well regarded, and I think those who do watch it, really enjoy it. It's something Channel 4 can be proud of, and that high quality guests want to go on.
I don't suppose it's particularly expensive to make, and I doubt Adam, Alex and Josh would insist on huge salaries as it's giving their careers in general a boost. Adam managed to fit in a run at the Edinburgh Festival with this series, which he's done before, but I bet tickets sold faster this year. I know I missed out.

I find it a shame that Last Leg isn't a mega rating hit because it deserves it, but I'm glad it's doing well regardless They should be very proud of it, I know I am
I imagine it's very cheap to make as there's only the stuido, audience, weekly guests and the presenters obviously. Plus they just show videos that are usually in the news and/or online anyway. So not like much money is needed.
I bloody love it!!! Just wish I watched it all through the Paralympics too instead of the last day or two

"G'day, good evening and welcome"
Yes he was:sleep::sleep:

He's always the same, resorts to bluster and mumbling when faced with difficult situations.
I preferred Boris to the perennially unfunny farmer
His non sequiturs and unfunny asides really interrupt the flow of the show
His attack on America was the extemporaneous thoughts of a stupid man
I fast forwarded his segments.
Just caught up and really enjoyed it as always even if it was bit serious towards the end

Anyway apart from that I enjoyed the show again.

It brought a tear to my eye :D
Somehow, I think the final image at the end of the show won't help him if that's on the screen
A lot different to last week when they were waiting for their moment to step in with a comment or joke.
