Capital Birmingham opts out of daytime network for Fusion Festival this weekend, with a highlight show at 7pm on Monday.

Its not just James Barr that's departed 'suddenly'. Look across the Global portfolio and it seems they have had a massive clear out. I assume to save a few pennies they are not renewing the contracts of established quality presenters and replacing them with cheaper newbies. The pennies saved are then used to bring in 'celebrity' and 'reality' presenters which only brings in a short ratings fix is some areas. They keep it up and Global will be more like radio equivalent of freak shows, one minute wonders.

Remember that presenters like Westwood, Chris Tarrant & Pete Tong were nobodies when they started on Capital (back in the 90s). Just look at them now! James will no doubt be just as big those on Kiss FM, once he gets a new radio gig.

Tarrant was already well known for TISWAS and OTT long before his Capital break. Westward and Tong are specialist, We are talking about prime time changes. By newbies i'm referring to comments earlier about 19 year olds replacing established presenters, probably for lower salary.

The top news story on Capital Birmingham this drive time was Capital having extensive highlights of the fusion festivia tha happened in Brum over the weekend, in which Dan Katy chatted to some of the stars backstage.

Actual new stories come after that.

It's worse that Hearts 'the stations where you can win...' In their news bulletin.

That was really irritating me. With everything that's going on in the world, why the hell do they think the top story during the news should be their over the top coverage of a local festival.

I do miss the Dose. It was my top breakfast listen in Kent when we had Galaxy Yorkshire. When it became Capital, it became the London feed which to me is pretty useless having 2 Capital London broadcasting to more or less the same region.

This was one of the many good reasons why I loved listening to Galaxy. Everyone was a bit more personal behind the microphone; From The Dose (who did a Danny's Dumps; think im right with the name) to Sacha Brooks (having a rant about her flatmate.)

Clyde & Forth just don't do it for me. if Capital Scotland went over the whole R&S Scotland senario, then I'd be more than happy for someone like Kiss (Franchised) or Juice FM (local or networked) to take on over 105.7. (only picked these brands as they're the only ones to meet the requirements, set by OFCOM)

Marvin is presenting 7-10pm all next week. It'll be interesting to hear him present a show outside of the mixing show. He'll probably have to bring out more of his personality so I wonder how the shows will go.
