yeah I know. Gets me down. I don't hate anything. I just use iOS because it just works and I run a business and I can't be arsed with all that stuff Zapod just mentioned.
Some people like to tinker and play around with stuff and that's fine but why do people get so bitter about it?
I've noticed that when Google release some update you don't get all the iOS users bitching about how crap it is. Maybe one or two.
As soon as Apple release something, all hell breaks loose.
I struggle to see why this is other than jealousy.
iOS 7 is simple and beautiful. It doesn't do some things but I don't need those.
My point still stands, my phone HTC One was mentioned in the thread title. Apparently this 5S wipes the floor with my phone. It really doesn't.
iPhone doesn't do anything that requires loads of ram or an impressive processor.
It can't even attach a document that isn't a picture or video to an email.
Or multi-task.
It's a dumb operating system.
I have no more to add.
Seeing as I started this thread I'll now throw my two penneth in. Scott, you are talking a load of Tosh.
Firstly, I didn't say the 5S wipes the floor with the HTC One. I was talking purely benchmarks. However, now you mention it I happen to own both the HTC One and the iPhone 5, so I think I am in a position to make comparisons between the two based on real world experience.
A number of comments -
1. You say IOS is not a real O/S. I assume you are either not aware that it is based on the Unix kernel, or you don't consider Unix a real O/S.
2. IOS on the IP5 is silky smooth in comparison to Android on the HTC One. It frustrates me on the HTC One how often a screen tap has no effect and I have to do it again.
3. Multitasking - there are various ways of skinning this particular cat. I happen to prefer the IOS way because it has a much more beneficial effect on battery life. I have accidentally drained my battery on the HTC One more than 50 times in the last 6 months. Never once have I done the same thing on the iPhone. This is entirely down to the way Android multitasks. Please explain what multitasking features I am missing on IOS that are really worth lousy battery life.
4. Bear in mind my comparisons are not even with the 5S but the current iPhone 5. IMO the only advantage of the HTC One is a larger screen. Even that is not particularly effective unless you have 20/20 vision. Anything less and the tiny fonts used by default are illegible. The fact is Apple have thought about it and there are numerous ways in which text is easier to read on an iPhone e.g when you rotate a web page from portrait to landscape on the IPhone the text is enlarged to take advantage of the wider screen. As for bright sunlight there is no comparison, I don't even try to use the HTC.

Happens with everything. I play a few games and am a member of a gaming forum and there is always the inevitable PlayStation vs Xbox arguments and here there is iOS and Android fanboys.
I like to look at everything realistically and that's why i'm able to say both positive and negative things about both OS's.
Although sometimes i like to be controversial and say things like "Symbian is better than iOS and Android"
Geekbench is designed to measure the overall performance of the system, not just the raw performance of your hardware, so it includes the performance of the OS. But obviously if the hardware is much better then it'll score higher even if the OS performance isn't great. Hence why G2 is poorly optimised so scores lower than other snapdragon 800 phones. It's still fast though thanks to hardware.
Geekbench results give an easy comparison against other phones and how well that phone performs overall compared to a standard. It's useful in showing which phones have the best hardware and how optimised the overall system is. Usually you'd expect geekbench results to be an indication of real world performance but obviously there are always exceptions and real world performance may not be as good.
OK, thanks. So the scores can give some indication, rather than the components used.
So that it's not as simple as there being a direct correlation between the chip used, and the performance of the hardware.

Devon bloke..... common sense......
Don't make me laugh!
Right, that's it. I'm gonna go and down a bottle of red and then start a heated argument by personally attacking you, then get us both banned.
Then you'll see who's got common sense!!
Not me, that's who.
Hahahahahaha
I was impressed with how you kept your cool and didn't retaliate the other day under a barrage of personal attacks from "Mr Qualified"
If only I could have Symbian on my iPhone. Now there would be a phone

AWFUL!!!!
And you're all idiots for defending this awful iOS ...

Are you this obnoxious in person or are you just 8 years old?
Why then, on my Experia, have I got apps I can't get rid of? Why do I have more than one gallery type app? More than one video player app? More than one music app? The kicker is the - count ’em - seven, yes, seven apps for downloading apps. That would be the Sony updater, the Vodafone updater, the play store, a thing called appselect, Get Games, Get Apps, Downloads.
It's an insane, confusing, morass of Sony stuff, Vodafone stuff and Android stuff that hogs my app drawer and the measly built in Flash memory and refuses to be deleted without me rooting the device and installing Cyanogen.
Presuming your Xperia has Android 4.0+, you can just disable any apps you don't want to see from the settings menu. You can also clear any data they take up, so if you're not a fan of Sony's built in apps, there is a very simple way to get rid of them.

Here's the thing Scott.
Not everyone is as bothered by these things as you seem to be.
That doesn't make them a fool.
I don't give a rats arse that Safari isn't the default browser, because Safari is a perfectly good browser.

Ha ha funnily enough my phones been playing up over the last few weeks so yes, 'Grrr' indeed.
Sadly - or happily - after four years of Android phones, I've ordered a 5s.

Because the average user is cursing their phone because they can't open Word documents?
Do you have any other examples? Maybe I'm not a typical user, but I don't tend to do need to do multiple things at the same time on a phone or tablet.

So in this scenario, "the workaround" is "using an app"?
Symbian rocks! I remember it from it's EPOC days.
Hahaha! On the drink again eh!
And yeh, the SOGA guy lost it haha!
AWFUL!!!!

Keep going, I enjoy a good laugh on an evening.:)
I'm laughing at you carrying that junk around in your pocket thinking you're at the pinnacle of technology!
Fools!
Would you still be a fool if you didn't think it was the pinnacle of technology?
I know right!!!!!!
When will people realise that Symbian is the best OS ever!
