It fits fine in my jeans pocket, and only once or twice have I had to re-adjust my hand when holding it, to get to the top swipe menu, this is just me A; getting used to the size and B: forgetting about the swipe menu, having come from an iPhone, so I sometimes don't position my hand in the most economical position.
I don't think its that big and as I said I've come from an iPhone so me of all people would have something to complain about the size.

I'm in the same boat as you I've always thought Android wasn't for me due to trying Samsung phones but this phone is great. It does take a little getting used to but that's normal

I'm starting to doubt that I'll go for a Z1 (but do want a QX lens and the smartwatch), but do agree that Samsung have effectively "spoilt" android.
My nexus 7 is a cracking bit of kit, basic Android is pretty sweet. I've played with a few of the GS3s in the office and really don't like the feel of them (either physically or their Android interface).
But playing with my sons Xperia SP, it feels very similar to the Nexus 7. Sony really haven't added much onto Android, it all felt right.
Having not used Android before, but from other posts on Android forums etc, it seems the Z1 is fairly bloat free and EE haven't put any crap on themselves out of a ram of 16gb there's about 11.5mb free for user, so not bad.
Is that because of the dual screens mode, the floating finger touch control or those brilliant 7000mah 3rd party phone batteries?
I just don't like the way the Samsungs work - how much bloat is there on the SGS4 sucking up the internal storage?
There were a few additional apps on the SP, I removed a few of them - ebay, wisepilot, amazon - my son just won't use them. Not sure "just removing them" is an option on the SGS4?
I just find the "basic" Android experience much cleaner and less cluttered. And Sonys industrial design is leagues ahead of the blandness that has come from Samsung.

Floating finger mode? Are you serious? What a load of S-shit. Samsung's main problem apart from the questionable choice of materials is software and software features. Only Samsung could make the hardware of the S4 lag as much as it did initially. They should sack the TouchWiz team and ask Cyanogenmod Inc to do the software.
Always very hard to say, it simply depends where you concentrate the review.
I could argue the iPhone 5s with its Sony 1.5 microns camera beats that Lumia with its quite small pixels at 1.1 microns.
We could then start reading a newspaper on the Z1 and talk about how unreadable the Lumia screen looks in comparison.
I could then move to argue that the Galaxy Ace with its PLS screen(if it is PLS) makes the iPhone 5s screen, and more so that Z1, look comparatively bleached out when viewed at an angle.
^^^ Not sure why viewing angle is such a big thing, I tend to use my devices head on, not held at 70 degrees left or right from my body etc. The only time viewing angles matter is tablets when you might be sharing the device. Plus when sitting on a plane/train, isn't it better for people sitting next to you, not to be able to see your screen.

I completely agree I don't see the need for viewing angles I would rather they made it unreadable at angles for when on public transport etc.
The Z1 is on my shortlist but I think EE is too expensive. I am waiting to see the price on Three...
I am interested in the Z1 with 4G. Free phone with EE = £42 per month x 24 months = £1008
The Z1 has at last turned up on the Three (4G coming soon) website - free phone = £38 x 24 = £912
I was hoping the Three price would be better than this.
Or I have seen a Three reseller at £33 x 24 = £792

Apple used that idle manufacturer capacity to get IPS smartphone screens introduced at low cost. The rest is history.
I think it was either sheep follow or get continually berated for 'cheap low quality'.

Or best sim free price I have seen = £510.
Could you lot stop talking about this phone, I don't need one, but I so want one.
Best price I've seen is free phone on a 2 year contract that would cost me £21 per month. £504 .... But having staff discount and getting contracts half price is an unfair advantage
Z2 rumours is just that rumours. There's always something around the corner. Realistically speaking the phone won't be out until April/May next year if gets announced in March. That's 7/8 months away.

At least it will keep Google on its toes and keep improving things all round.
This isn't a Samsung thread. If you want to hijack threads start your own discussing whatever topic you wish to discuss.

I have said the same as the above too.

True
i can't get out of the current contract until early next year
just in time for the Z2
Why wait? Get whatever phone you want now.
Couple of issues with the camera in low light but I think that will be fixed in a firmware update.
sound quality is poor im told
still behind the s4 and htc one
I bought mines out right I would say loud speaker is poor but the handset ear speaker is good.
