I looked at the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARucP8ZTJgo and decided it's not for me. I'll stick with the Franco Zefferelli version.
I did see in this trailer that you have them kissing, him half naked and them on a bed kissing. I think it's safe to assume they are avoiding the whole thing about Juliet is only 13 in the story so although Romeo is supposedly 16 in the story that makes what he is doing child abuse. There are perks to casting older than the characters after all.
I'm out.
Romeo and Juliet: A Love Song (New Zealand)
Romeo and Juliet in Harlem (USA)
Rome n' Juliet (Latvia)
So well you jest. There seems roughly 19 film adaptations of Romeo and Juliet between Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Romeo and Juliet (2013).
Memorise these trivia for future pub quizzes.
- The earliest documented film adaptation of R&J was made in 1900.
- Roughly 30 R&J adaptations were released between 1903 and 1918.
- The first talkie adaptation is probably the 1936 US version, starring Norma Shearer as Juliet and Leslie Howard as Romeo.
- The first British talkie adaptation is probably the 1947 TV film version, starring Rosalie Crutchley and John Bailey.
- The first TV series adaptation is probably the 1962 UK version, starring 17-year-old Jane Asher and David Weston, on ITV. Third/final episode is currently missing (probably destroyed).
- The first updated/contemporary adaptation is probably The Lovers of Verona (1949, France), starring Anouk Aimée as Georgia/Juliet and Serge Reggiani as Angelo/Romeo.
lol all very interesting but where are the list of adaptations since 1996?
Other people might. Choice!
