I bet that if Sky 3D had been available back then, Sky would have also shown the demo of the PS2 on the Sky 3D channel as well seeing as it was such a major thing to show!
My mate, who is mates with this bloke from the USA, who is mates with a bloke who is a cleaner at Microsoft, said he was cleaning Bill Gates' office out right and saw in the bin this mock up of a console called an xbox.
You're all crazy! After the flop of the Saturn, Sega will pull out all the stops to make sure the Dreamcast is a success and get as many third party developers on board as they can. With more people getting access to the internet in their own homes, I think online gaming will take off.
The only thing Sony has going for it with the Playstation 2 is that it has a DVD player built into it. I can't see anyone wanting to pay £20+ to upgrade each of their videos in their collection, so I think DVDs will prove to be an expensive flop and die out quickly like Betamax did. Who wants loads of discs lying around that can scratch easy? A £1.99 CD single is fine but a £20 movie? It's an expensive luxury that an ordinary Joe Bloggs on the street won't bother about.
Also, the name "Playstation 2" is stupid and lacks originality. What next? Playstation 3, Playstation 4..?
I think Sega will rule the roost for years to come. Imagine how awesome a 3D Sonic game will be!
*this is only my opinion and would happily be proven wrong
However the beauty of having thise films on dvd is that you cannot copy them - see there is this thing called macrovision or something and it stops people copying films.
Plus who in their right mind is going to want to buy blank dvd discs anyway to copy them? Have you seen how expensive they are plus my computer only has a CD-ROM built in so wont be able to burn any discs anyway.
Trust me, the move onto DVD will end video game and feature film piracy FOREVER.

I shit you not.
Meh, even if this *new* console becomes anything of a success, there's no saying what will become of it down the line!
I think it will go on for the next 10 years the xbox, there is no way that MS will just kill it off after a severe price drop and then drop it altogether - thats no how MS roll.

Look at windows 95...
I wonder if it will come with the Windows ME operating system.
I now want to know the name of the import featured.
The PS2 itself, as the OP suspected a PAL one wouldn't have been available for their feature!
We're lucky Saddam's preorder for several thousand never got fulfilled. Apparently the Emotion Engine's power becomes magnified with every thousand units networked, giving the holder of the joypad superpowers.
I never had a PS1 so this PS2 sounds awesome. My mate has a PS1 though and I go round to his to play Crash Team Racing and Syphon Filter loads. I hope they make these games for this new console. It'd be so good if we could play against each other from our own houses though because he lives an hours walk away and it's far to walk in the Winter

Oh, I think that'll be a few years away yet. No, Dreamcast's the way to go for online gaming. The new online gaming service, Dreamarena, launches in a few months time anyway.
Haha, I only say that cause Digi TV was in it's infancy and Sky still wasn't as widespread as it is today! I think I had NTL cable in 2000 and I don't think you could get Sky News on it, iirc.

I'd love to see a youtube clip of this demo

I agree... Sony got lucky with the PS but I can't see them ever being market leaders

Actually just laughed out loud in the office.
