I'm usually pretty smart, but often pretty stupid by self admission.

Apparently my IQ is about 130.

It doesn't help that by self diagnosis I'm dyslexic (fairly certain on that), which is why I make many typos in my posts, use double words (and and, it it etc.). I use a spell checker, so most typos I make, I can correct.

So, I'm not sure what score to give myself.

Reasonably smart. I just wish I'd realised it when I was younger instead of spending so much of my life believing I was ,at best, average but generally below average. :(

1 to 10, without any further clarification is a pretty poor system for self-reporting something like that. Measuring intelligence is a murky enough topic without further confusing it by filtering it through a meaningless and subjective numbering system. This probably belongs in the Chatter subforum, because I can't see how you'd expect anything productive from this.

Probably about 7, I have a first and typically always achieved academically but I don't see myself as 'smart'

Fairly smart on the whole, about an 8, but I'm susceptible to sporadic moments of embarrassing stupidity. :(

I can be smart at some things and incredibly thick at others but self aware enough to know I am being incredibly thick. My brain has gotten me through life so far so I can't complain.

A 7 i guess. Not stupid, though in no way a genius either.

This is all too subjective, I know some people into the Arts, Mathematics & Literature who don't even know how to fix a cupboard door or wire a plug and I know some technically gifted mechanics who are almost illiterate.

Didn't think it was possible to wire a plug anymore.

Academic smart does not translate to common sense smart. You can be gifted in one area but completely retarded in the other.

I wouldn't say that I'm that smart- maybe a 4 or 5 or something on that scale. I have a BSc. degree (but a 2:1, not a first :o ) but I'm a bit socially awkward (I have generalised and social anxiety, woohoo!) and I sometimes lack common sense, and I have a weird sense of logic- I find that I sometimes come to conclusions and think differently to other people (typically not in a good way, but occasionally I get lucky and work things out more quickly :P ) I'm not very smart in a creative way- I suck at music and art and dance and drama, but I'm not too bad at the martial art I've been practicing for 8 years (maybe thats why :P ) and on the odd occasion where I have been to a different martial art class, I've picked it up a little easier than other beginners, probably due to experience.

I think everybody is smart in different ways, which is why it is difficult to quantify on a scale like this.

    About average

I wouldn't judge others intelligence based solely on academics though, intelligence manifests itself in different ways

An overall score is meaningless. I know what I'm good at and where my limits are. The 'smart' ones play to their strengths.

I almost always wear trousers and shirts, so generally pretty smart ;)
IQ wise, average really, no smart arse though I hold my own - I do however suffer from quite bad amnesia which effects me badly now.

I always felt like the dummy of my family, but as I've got older I've come to realise I'm smarter than I thought, perhaps I've grown into it with age :D (or parenthood)

I think, as somebody above said, you should play to your strengths.

Academically I achieved very little, just 8 'o' levels (mostly through re-takes), no degree or any higher level of education than sixth form college (all those re-takes :D)

    8, maybe?
I'm fairly intelligent. I do very well at school, love science, know and understand a lot about science and want to do Chemistry at university next year.
I don't know what my IQ is. Never taken a test and I don't particularly believe in the quantifying of intelligence. There are too many factors involved in someone's intelligence to assign it a numerical value.
It's entirely possible I'm highly knowledgeable, but not actually very intelligent. That said, I would argue that it takes some degree of intelligence to fully understand many scientific concepts.

I did well in an IQ test but imo, there is a huge disparity in those who are intelligent an those who are emotionally intelligent! IQ tests don't really measure smartness in that context!

I have a high IQ, BA, MPhil and an MBA but would consider myself about a 6 on overall intelligence!

Smart enough that I don't feel handicapped in any important respect relative to the population in general.

I can't be more specific than that.
