I'm hoping it will be the year for Hurts to get the credit they at long last deserve. Hopefully the Calvin Harris single will at least make their name known to people (even though it's not their usual sound) and the rest will follow. The deserve it after what seems to be almost constant touring.
I agree with the poster above, Hurts deserve success next year. It sounds like they're releasing a new album next year so hopefully they'll become more popular. It's just so annoying how Radio 1 just ignored them for the whole of the 'Exile' era!
I know she's already had success, but it always seems to come at a price, but I'd like Marina & the Diamonds to have some major success - maybe that Top 10 single she has been working for for the last 5+ years. I'd also like her to get some award nods, not necessarily wins, for her next album - if it's good that is - as she was snubbed at the Brits for her first two albums.
I'd love Charli XCX to get some mainstream success for her own material as she's currently gearing up for the release of her second album. She's already had a taste of success with Icona Pop but I'd live to see her get some Top 40 hits next year and a Top 40 album too.

I seriously wonder if they would be better known if they had chosen a different name. 'Hurts' doesn't sound like a band name. I've asked people if they've heard of Hurts and got replies like "You mean the car hire?" I think they should have gone for something less ambiguous that would catch people's attention more.

Yeah, I just don't understand it. Blind and Someone to die for especially were absolutely brilliant tunes and far better than a lot of drivel in the charts these days.

Saw them at the the Troxy on Saturday, very good.
I've had someone say that to me too.
I saw them there too. They were very good. I took my dad to his first ever Hurts concert and he said they had a feeling of a group "poised for huge success" - his words, not mine. It'll be interesting to see if he's right. He said it was one of the best concerts he'd been to.

I had to laugh at the demographics described in this review
Tonight's sold-out crowd consists of screaming teen girls, casual indie lads, German goths on pilgrimage, slicked-back Theo clones and your mum, pining for the lost days of 1980s power-pop.
