Really good fun film. The atmospherics and Wagnerian feel were done superbly. Action was good and the right level of knowingness and humour.
Wasn't bothered about Charing Cross to Greenwich in 3 stops - one presumes the makers needed to use a station name that would resonate moer with non-Brits. And it really was just a throw away gag to get Thor using the London underground.
Just seen this. Awful. Wondering if I saw the same film everyone else did?
Too LOTR-like, ponderous, slow, disjointed, didn't enjoy constantly flitting between worlds. London elements looked cheap and embarrassing. Yet another 'prison break' scene. Jeez. I'd read there was an abundance of humour / funny quips. Only the fan girls in the audience seemed to enjoy the 'jokes'. Bored of Loki and robbed of a real development to the character. Cheap.
Natalie Portman seemed bored, the loss of one character was 'meh' and Kat Denning's Darcy was an annoyance. The less said about nutjob Selvig, the better.
Never considered Thor 1 a masterpiece, but still far superior to the sequel. Surprised it was only 110 mins-ish. Felt like 3 hrs long. As for the Walter Mitty 10 minute promo. Wtf?!
Rating. 2/5.
i totally agree with you, thought it was awful. and i loved the first film.
i think natalie portman was forced into doing this - both she and anthony hopkins looked embarrassed.
the 'comedy' (selvieg, kat dennings and her intern) was witless in the extreme.
I wanted to slap Loki by the end of it and not because he's a baddie. As usual he's an irritant. Can't see the appeal in him. Can't wait for avengers 2 - Loki free
I imagine Thor 3 is probably a given if it hasn't already been announced.
$327m worldwide on its second Int./first US weekend is great business. $600m looks certain so it's a question of how much beyond that it can draw (boxofficemojo.com)

i would be surprised but i wouldn't mind, i loved both films.
A great film! Hemsworth was good, I loved the Heimdall action, the cast were all great (except Hopkins (by-the-numbers) and Eccleston (routine)). The director really made
the action scenes engaging. Also
Poor Freya. That was sad.
The post-credit trailer was interesting :
Who is this "Collector" and what are
his plans for the Infinity Stones?

funny thing is, a mate of mine rang me at the weekend to say that he watch this and found it utterly abysmal - the worst film he's seen this year and even worse than Iron Man 3 (which we both hated).
I obviously had to go and see it to see if was really that bad and watched it yesterday. I enjoyed it, so i'm certainly going to attempt to find out why my friend hated it so much.

Yeah, forget Jane Foster. Thor and Loki are the real love story.

everything in it seemed like an afterthought
Love the opening with battle! What a battle!
I like that this film is not Superhero film, but Sci-fi war film!
Sorry if anyone mention it, but it nice to see Korg (of Planet Hulk) lookalike.

A worthy addition to the Marvel family.
I also thought Stan Lee's cameo was the best on yet!!:D
I sincerely hope that Thor paid the correct fare!!:D
Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston bounce off each other superbly.
Not keen on the human side if the equation but could watch all the Asgardians all day long.
Liked also that Asgard looked more real.
Rollicking good fun...and I thought it slightly better than the first Thor and miles better than that other bloke with a red capes last two films.
