Masturbation and sex

I don't know if it's down to my age but i am still a pretty young bloke but I just don't have the feelings much lately, sex when I think about it at the time is good but when I feel about doing it I'm put right off it thinking its horrible and not right. Masturbating I feel more comfy with but even these feelings I get put off sometimes and don't feel like it.

Used to be every couple of days I might have a fumble but now it's more like once a week :o

I'm not exactly in the best of health so wondering if that is something to do with it or just that I'm middle aged. My doctor asked did I want to try Viagra but that put me off.

I'm concerned that you're not in the best of health and you're still a pretty young guy - you should be. Ill health or unhealthy lifestyle factors can have an effect - obesity, smoking, diabetes, etc. How is your mood? - depression can also reduce sex drive. Address underlying causes before Viagra. Please see your GP for a review.

It's all relative. 42 is quite young in health terms. It's a young age to start getting ill health.

But it's an age when your lifestyle & diet starts catching up with you. I know guys in their 30s and 40s who can either look in their 20s or in their 50s.

I'm not sure why your doctor would prescribe you Viagra.

It doesn't make you more interested in sex, it merely induces the necessities in men who physically struggle to get it up.

It's a myth that it makes you aroused, it merely helps get and maintain an erection when aroused by something else. If you aren't in an arousing situation the Viagra will have absolutely no effect.

If you seriously have problems a therapist of some sort would be of more use.

Take Zinc and lose a little weight maybe OP ?
Unless of course you dont have any weight issue.
I found that after losing a lot of weight my sex drive returned, the problem for me is that I am now at the stage where I have lost enough weight for women to get attracted but not enough for me to be totally comfortable in the sack :D

I soon will be though ;)

It may be a mental issue, just need to speak to a sex counsellor type person - I bet your GP can get you in touch with someone if that is the case.

the longer you wait the better it feels, well as long as you don't wait 10 years but if u masturbate once a week then that one day that you do it is worth all the wait ;)

Are you saying you feel guilty about sex or guilty about masturbation or both? Or neither? Or what?

    ha ha... my thoughts too..

i kinda know what you mean.... im 56, and find the act of intercourse now rather tiresome. its not like it was when i was younger. its too much trouble now all that jigging about..

i disliked viagra... it does the job in as much as it gives you an erection, but it doesnt give you the urge, and without the urge its pretty pointless. cialis is better.

Are you happy with your sex drive? If so, don't worry about it. Sex drive decreases with age in a lot of people, and for a whole variety of other reasons too. If you're happy with the way things are, it doesn't matter what everyone else gets up to. I've not had sex since I left my ex in 2005 and that suits me fine.

i think its easier for women to 'turn off' then men tbh... the male sex drive is normally greater then the female (generally, not exclusively).

but... erm... are you talking about sex (intercourse) only or are you including diy?

the op can get testosterone levels checked at the docs, if they are low that can be addressed with testosterone gel or injections.
