I think the thing to really remember is that one has to divorce the reality television element which needs journeys, conflicts, triumph after failing etc etc from reality.
While Scott and Steven are top flight chefs, it's clearly Adam who has that spark of genius, whatever you want to call it, that marks him out as being the one with the potential for the greatest career.
This whole week has been about denigrating the front runner, convincing or trying to that it's a level playing field, when really Adam was and is in a league of his own.
The problem Michel faced is he felt Adam was the favourite and had high expectations based on his previous rounds. Adam put three plates in front of him that he found faults with. He didn't just make up the faults on the spot to spite him. He clearly wanted Adam to produce three perfect dishes so he would walk the final... and he didn't do it. And you could see from Michel's face that this pained him greatly. He was gutted for Adam. It came out in critical comments.. but he was gutted for Adam deep down. Gutted he had fallen at the final hurdle.
I do hope Michel took Adam to one side afterwards and explained that to him. Wasn't he the youngest finalist too?
Because Adam was clearly the best chef throughout the entire series.
I don't see how you can say that when he only tied with Steven in the semis and lost to him tonight. You can argue he has more talent and potential, but Steven and Scott have the advantages of been more mature, more unflappable and less headstrong. Adam's performance in all four days of the final hasn't been ahead of the others.

I disagree. Adam has the potential to be a really great chef, as Monica said. Steven is very talented but lacks that je ne sais quois. Adam has the X Factor.

The point is that he isn't doing vanilla potatoes any more.
Ok, that should read 'a bit too bloody careful ever since the vanilla potato debacle'

awh i hope someone tweets him that he didn't let anyone down
I know. Adam should have won
Gregg should have no say in this as he is a biased ex football hooligan >:(

Well Adam is head chef at the Caxton Grill... whose website appears to be down currently.
Eat sprouts and die of vitamin K poisoning.
Adams food was Greggs favourite.
:D:D
Still gutted.
Why does "Boring" win? >:(>:(
Don't worry, he's getting plenty of support!
Scott is still working his 'day job' in St Andrews, no fame and fortune yet.
IMHO the man has no value as a food critic or judge.
Million thanks to all those who made me laugh. Special mentions to planets and badcat. But there were others too! *mwah*
So did Mozart and look what happened to him.
