It is practically becoming libellous, since I have put the same answer in at least three previous threads, but I am nominating Hattersley, on the Cheshire side of Manchester, as the worst. It is a bleak and featureless 1960's overspill town famous only because the Moors murders happened there.

Best...well I come from Cambridge, and though it is dreadfully overcrowded, it really does have a ludicrous number of beautiful buildings; and I reckon on any day of the year you have a choice of concerts or plays to go to.

Haha! Great Yarmouth is my worst too. What a hole.

Best for me is a toss up between Florence, despite the hordes of Tourists, and Bath, despite the hordes of tourists.

Rhyl. Nothing else comes close. I shan't expand as last time I did so (sort of) I got launched out the window.

Best - Cardiff was really nice, and I will always have fondness for London.

Worst - Milton Keynes. Ugly and soulless with very unwelcoming locals.

I seem to remember that last time there was one of these threads, Rhyl won by miles. Worse than... I dunno....Runcorn....Gateshead...Gravesend...

Worst would probably be a toss-up between Huddersfield or Basildon.

Both seem to have roughly the same problem. The city centre is just a sea of concrete monuments with roads around them.
Doesn't seem to be much of anything for people.

I think it was my suggestion of burning it to the ground.

Mmm, bit of a pattern there...

I've always loved Paris and the worst city I've been to was Coventry. Utterly soulless and depressing.

Looking through Google images in the hope of finding a nice picture of Rhyl, I came across this....http://www.theguardian.com/film/gallery/2008/aug/08/star.wars

To be fair, Rhyl has sand and sea. I deliberately missed out the ghastly town of Blyth because it also has a nice sandy beach.

    Best:
Bad Liebenzell, Germany (but I haven't been there for many years and it may have changed)
    Bishop, California
    Boone, North Carolina
    Cedar City, Utah
    Cortez, Colorado
    Durango, Colorado
    Gatlinburg, Tennessee (touristy but pleasant)
    Golden, British Columbia
Jackson, Wyoming (also touristy but pleasant)
    Kalispell, Montana
Martigny, Switzerland (also not visited for many years)
    Montrose, Colorado
    Pincher Creek, Alberta
    Porterville, California
    Princeton, British Columbia
Qualicum Beach, British Columbia (on Vancouver Island)
    St George, Utah
(Most of those are medium sized towns conveniently close to national parks etc)

    Worst:
Virtually any big city just about anywhere in the world

I really like Los Angeles and Marseille, but not in a "best city" way, more like a "most interesting city" way.
