There must have been a second Christmas TOTP with Boomtown Rats, 10CC, Althia and Donna, Blondie, Rod Stewart etc. If not odd that Boney M were on three times.

I think there might have been. Didn't Channel 5 show both a couple few Xmas' ago?

If there was, I think all the cool kids would have been at that one, rather than this one!

Not sure there was though.
OK so there was a strike in 1978, but surely despite that they could have managed to convey or create some kind of atmosphere somehow, even in a small "office"?
1978 definitely deserved a more fitting Christmas edition that was denied it.

This edition was the version of 1978 in which New Wave never happened.

Maybe he was in Africa and didn't know. I've heard that it's questionable whether it's known to be Christmas there.
Blimey Sue, I'll do my best, but I'm only human.
Annie's Song breaks with the No1's and 2's from 1978. It made No3. They could have done better than this to end on surely?

Were they ever shown, or is it just now that they can't show them???

Didn't they start doing an Xmas Day and Boxing Day TOTP in the 90s? Not before?
They never were shown >:(
If you have the previous BBC Four repeat from a few years back, the film clips were present & correct then.
Not sure there was though.

They were shown back in the day. Channel 4 hold the film rights to Grease, and they wanted too much money.
Who holds the rights to Saturday Night Fever thesedays?
Don't think it's been on telly for some time.
Now that is one TOTP that I will be actively avoiding like the plague. I can't be alone on here by doing that, surely? Last watched it in 2008.
