Announced today and apparently it is official but do we think he will stick to it and actually disappear for good?

And someone needs to give him a dictionary for Christmas: retiring isn't the same as taking a break to come back later...
I think that he needs a break, so it would be a good move.
But I dislike the way he is going at things once again (it feels very attention seeking, and aren't we all falling for it since we are talking about it? -_-).
Plus what does God have to do with the press & people talking about his current behaviour?
If he retires I'll eat 5000 cakes in a day.
Jesus F Christ.
1. His fans are growing up. Most of Bieber's fans were just about turning 13 around the time he burst onto the scene. They should be 17 at this point in time. Most Beliebers grow out of him at sometime between 16 and 17.
2. His public image has been destroyed. Bieber's breakdown in the UK, the Anne Frank controversy, and the Brothel incident are just 3 of many news stories that are making him the most hated celebrity in the world, with only Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Miley Cyrus possibly rivaling him for that title.
3. One Direction has taken his spot in the teen world. Last year, 1D and Bieber were pretty much neck-a-neck as far a commercial success is concerned. However, the first effects of 1D could be see when Bieber had a lower than expected first week of 375k in the U.S. It wasn't until Take Me Home surpassed the sales of Believe, and more importantly doing so in only 7 weeks, that 1D could make a claim to the throne.
didnt jay z ''retire''?
and eminem?
No way will 1D end anytime soon. They are doing something no other act from the current generation have been able to do, Sell out stadiums. Its incredible what they have been able to achieve. I'm not convinced their fan base are all young girls either. I think they are growing in popularity with older teens because of their change in music style.

he looks a right spoilt brat.
One thing that is true is that he's taking a break
Well really. Who releases a movie on Christmas Day?
But realise this, most of your fans are young girls, and that announcement was made on Christmas Eve/Day (depending on where you are) for gods sakes! You've probably ruined Christmas 2013 for thousands, even millions of your fans! One more thing to put on the list of why he's such a ****!
In America, Christmas Day draws big crowds at the cinemas. It's the same as Boxing Day releases here. Nonetheless, that is really low for the Documentary. The screen average is also low as well. Opening at number 14 is also embarrassing. The fact that it was playing at less locations to begin with really says a lot. Fans are starting to move on.
