How tragic that we'll never see him on screen again.
You can see him on screen every day if you have GOLD or similar. They repeat this stuff endlessly.
Nevertheless, I share the sentiment behind what you really meant. I am pretty shocked because I'd not know he was unwell. Even the entertainment correspondent on BBC News seemed to be choking back tears a bit.
It was often the collective that made the show whole and in their way, Grandad, Uncle Albert, Mike and now Trigger and of course, John Sullivan, leave too big a hole for what may be planned.
For me, the funniest line RLP delivered as Trigger was in the episode "Sickness and Wealth".
The guys are all round a table having a seance and the woman in charge is describing Del and Rodney's mother. She says there's a person with long flowing white hair, bracelets and rings of gold adorning the wrists and fingers.
Del: "Blimey, you know who that is don't ya?"
And Trigger says "It sounds like Jimmy Saville".
And the bloody BBC edited that joke out of the episode last time I saw it screened! A true insult to RLP!
He was also in one or two of the later Harry Potter films (I forget who he played). Great actor, will be sadly missed, although what with OFAH and TVOD on constant repeat on UK Gold, it's not as if he'll be off screen for very long at any time.
Comments
Loved him in the Vicar of Dibley
Absolutely. In all the love for Trigger in Only Fools and Horses (and rightly so) his work in TVOD should not be overlooked.
That was one of my favourites too.
Very sad news. Was shocked to read it this morning.
It was stupid to even think if bringing it back. Different era now.
it won't come back.

"See ya around Trig"
R.I.P.
If they did, I'd expect the main plot of the episode would be Triggers funeral as a tribute episode to Roger.
I hope it doesn't come back though. As others have said it won't be the same.
He was brilliant and will be sadly missed........
Spurs fan born in Islington, bit strange
There's this scene where Rodney asks Trigger why he calls him Dave:

Sad news anyway. RIP Roger.:(
My dad died of pancreatic cancer, and it really is a horrible thing.
His scenes in Fools and Dibley never failed to make me smile or laugh out loud.
Sorry for your loss, my friend died of it too, and I agree, it is hideous.
RIP Roger- you will be much missed
