Just seen Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World for the first time.
Was on a list of doggy films which I am checking out.
I gave Digby a 4 out of 10.
Might have liked it more way back if around in the 70s but seemed a bit dated now.
For me.
The Ugly Dachshund
A Dog of Flanders (Japanese)
Where the Red Fern Grows
Best in Show
The Greyfaire Bobby
My Dog, Tulip (animated)
Inu to Anata no Monogatari: Inu no Eiga a.k.a. All About My Dog
All films of Hachi the Akita. Similar to the tale of the Greyfaire Bobby terrier.
Those were from the days when I could watch animal-oriented films. Nowadays, though? I can't do it. I'd rather watch a torture-porn film than seeing another screen death or unknown fate of an animal. The last dog film I watched is My Dog, Tulip.
Memorable dogs in non-dog films:
Grunt (an adorable Pit bull) from Flashdance
Zombie dogs (Doberman) from The Resident Evil
Vesta or Nesta? (Fox terrier) from The Thin Man
Thorn (white Shepherd) from The Lost Boys
Bull's Eye (Bull terrier) from Oliver!
Samantha (German Shepherd) from I Am Legend
Just seen White Dog for the first time.
Was in my list of doggy films I have been watching.
Was an OK film I gave it a 5 out of 10 and have not heard of dogs being trained to kill black people.
This was much different to the last doggy film I saw which was underdog LOL a lot more depressing.
Just seen Master of Lassie
Have seen the first one a few times but not this.
In fact it was quite good.
I gave Master a 6 out of 10.
Was a bit sad to.
Was on film 4 today.
The ugly dachshund loved that film as a kid
Old yeller I have had sat in cupboard for about 6 years and still can't watch it lol
My mum went on and on about a film called big red which I got he for Xmas
Incredible journey every time Bodger comes over that hill I cry like a baby.
Hatchi the whole family cried and my OH isn't a big dog lover unlike me pretty much most dog films that have a sad or happy sad ending will make me cry

BIB oh so s0 so yes
I can't help myself at the end of that movie
Sad though too that most people have never heard of The Incredible Journey but have seen Homeward Bound. The original is far superior
The Incredible Journey (1963)
A wonderful film about two dogs and a cat who have to cross the Canadian wilderness in order to get home again. Simple premise but a lovely, classic film.
Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)
A spiritual remake of The Incredible Journey. The animals talk in this one, though the mouths aren't animated or anything so it still maintains a semi-classic feel to it, and it adds something a bit different to the experience. Once again the three animals have to traverse the wilderness to get home, and encounter various natural obstacles and predators along the way. There's a scene with the cat getting swept down the river that I found a bit distressing when I was younger, and another where a dog falls through some wooden flooring by a railroad, but other than that it's a fun and nice-to-look-at movie with a few laughs as well.
Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco (1996)
I can never decide if this was just a hapless cash in (that was a success) or whether it was a worthy sequel. I enjoy it at any rate, and the change to a city setting makes it very different from the original, but not in any particularly bad way. I think the romantic sub-plot involving one of the dogs was probably a bit too forced and typically Disney but it was an okay follow-up.
The Shiloh Trilogy (1996-2006)
Not seen them myself but others have said they're okay. There's Shiloh, Shiloh Season and Saving Shiloh.
A few others...
All Dogs Go to Heaven 1 & 2 (and TV series, apparently)
101 Dalmations (live-action, Glenn Close used to terrify me!)
102 Dalmations (live-action)
101 Dalmations
101 Dalmations 2
Lady and the Tramp
Lady and the Tramp 2
Bolt
Frankenweenie
Snow Dogs (love this one)
White Fang
White Fang 2
Old Yeller
A lot of the films listed here are brilliant.
My favorites:
The Shaggy Dog (1959)
The Shaggy D.A. (1976)
Where the Red Fern Grows (1974)
The Amazing Dobermans (1976)
Finding Rin Tin Tin (2007)
Island of the Blue Dolphins (1964)
