Yes I love That song by Dusty too she was a great singer one of my faves.
I know it's a matter of opinion you will have to forgive me I am very defensive of The Beatles so much so I nearly threw my step daughter out of my house for saying something not too nice about Paul it is just the way I am with them I love them to death.
ill defend the beatles to the death! lol, especially on here when the young try to paint an untrue picture of what they did for music.
but i dont think that everything they did was the dogs bollox... in fact my theory is that in their mid period they produced so much material that some of it might have been rushed and the result was not the best version of a track. thats why those i nominated plus several others were imho better then the beatles versions.. i mean 'got to get you into my life' was fantastic by cliff bennett because of the use of brass instruments, it made the track.
my error has already been sorted, id mixed up 'if not for you' with 'what is life', both tracks charting for olivia newton john. harrison composing 'what is life'.
Atomic Kitten - Eternal Flame (yeah yeah I know, but I heard the original Bangles version and I thought it was really sad in comparison. I was 11 when the Kittens' version came out)
I'm sick of hearing all these Fleetwood Mac covers around, Fleetwood Mac don't need covering and I hate that some younger people are listening to these crappy poppier versions of don't stop/Go your own way, instead of the original brilliance of FM.
Also that Bastille cover of 'The Rythm Of The Night' is awful and I can't believe anyone would rather listen to that than the original.
I know this was meant to be about covers that are better, but I wanted a moan (:

You are joking aren't you? Please tell me you're joking!
disagree with all of these
the monthly 'cover version better then the original' thread ? again?
I Love the Nickelback version but for me this cover is just done so beautiful and different from the original IMO its better then the original
I'm also gobsmacked that anybody could possibly think that The Turtles sound even remotely like The Beatles
My favourite cover version is A Camp's version of The Bluest Eyes In Texas.
Um..ok.
For the avoidance of doubt, I don't think it's a requirement that we all have the same opinions.
