can anyone remember a game show called simply the best?
i think it would have been on around 03 - 04
i remember it was on when my sister was in the hospital and a nurse had to come in and ask was everything ok because i was laughing so much
No one I know seems to remember Strictly Dance Fever. It was on BBC1 and came before Strictly as we know it now. I loved it!
Same here! Sadie and Joseph's swing routine is still one of my favourite performances on TV. Joseph used to work at my school. He's been on so many TV competitions now though.
i feel bad for saying but 1001 ways to leave a game show i really enjoyed , think that was summer 2010. it was a bit of light entertainment and cruelly taken before it's time
I really liked that one too. A bit cruel on the contestants but great fun to watch.
Strange, starring Samantha Womack (formerly Janus) and Richard Coyle. Broadcast on the BBC around 2001. It only had one series. The show was really enjoyable. Unfortunately, there has never been a DVD release. Shame!
I've wanted to watch this for absoloutely ages! >:( I cannot, as it isn't online at all. Not even YouTube!
The next is Five Days, broadcast in 2010, starring Surranne Jones as a WPC, on a train with her mother played by Anne Reid. Also in this is David Morrissey, who played Jackson Lake in the 2008 Christmas ep of Doctor Who.
I seem to remember this was on around 2004, but I'm not 100% sure.
Yes she was. She played Russ from hollyoaks aunt or something. I remember seeing Bradley Walsh and Shane Richie in it too. I liked night and day at the time but made the mistake of watching again when I found the eps online it was not good.
Space Cadets - Think it was on Ch4 around 2005. They had to make members of the public believe they were going to Russia to train as cosmonauts for a week then fly a space shuttle. In fact they never left the UK and it was a total hoax.
I thought I would add the ones that I seem to remember that no-one I talk to does, however as TV fans you guys would know them.
Eyes Down starring Paul O'Grady, I absolutely loved this sitcom, yes it was crude, silly and highly predictable but it was always good for a turn your brain off laugh, would of sat well on BBC3 looking at what style of sitcoms they have on there now.
Space Cadets - Channel 4's 'reality' series where they tricked the contestants into thinking they were going into space when really they were in a hanger in the british countryside. I really enjoyed it and it was bloody funny at times too if not a little cruel lol.
Shattered - Channel 4 again, a kind of Big Brother spin-off attempt perhaps? Hosted by Dermot O'Leary, a bunch of people are locked in a house (sound familiar? lol) and they had to stay awake as long as possible, I think it was on a week. And every now and again they would send in someone to try and bore them to sleep, like i'm sure one time they sent in a history teacher who gave them a history lesson for 2 hours lol. I vaguely remember Davina popping in a couple of times too.
The Salon - Another Channel 4 one (I seem to have a thing for C4 don't I?) It was a reality show in a salon, where people come in for various bits and bobs as they do in salons, and we followed the workers/contestants as they tried to impress the boss. It also had live feed on E4 if I remember correctly, so we could watch them at work all day while we sat on our bums laughing at them lol. The Salon is probably more remembered for Ricardo tho.
EDIT: That will teach me for posting before reading the whole thread, there is a few here that were already mentioned, but hey I joined in the conversation
It was quite good - ordinary people put in a control room during a fictional scenario (one was a terror attack) and the decisions made affected how the programme played out.
I have been wondering what this programme was for years. I thought I'd imagined it. It was really good but I think it got pulled midway through the series. I think they should bring the format back.

They also had someone come in to give them a lecture about triangles to bore them to sleep. Another time they got one of the contestants to lay in a comfortable warm bed cuddling a big teddy while someone read them stories. I don't know how they managed to keep awake for both of them.
One contestant got quite nasty at times if the others fell asleep, because if one fell asleep the money they were going to win went down a bit. I was glad the nasty one didn't win in the end. One man got so delerious that he thought he was in Australia in the Neighbours programme at one point.
I think the programme was on in about 2003. I know it was on at the end of a year.
Tittybangbang, Scallywagga, Lunch Monkeys, Catterick which starred Vic and Bob, Matt Lucas and Reece Shearsmith, such a overlooked sitcom, Eyes Down which starred Paul O'Grady and was set in a bingo hall, Grown Up's which was created by Susan Nickson who wrote Two Pints and also starred Sheridan Smith, Coming of Age, White Van Man and In with the Flynn's which both starred Will Mellor, Being Eileen which starred Sue Johnston which was spun off from a Christmas special called Lapland, Nathan Barley a sitcom which was wrote by Charlie Brooker and Chris Morris but never had the same success has Brass Eye and The Mighty Boosh, The Peter Serafinowicz Show (don't think he's done much since), Horne & Corden a cash in on the success of Gavin & Stacey was critically panned and was a flop,
There was a BBC gameshow presented by Donny Osmond called Identity. I loved it but it only had 1 series and there's no full episodes of it on YouTube.
For the rest of your Donny Osmond gameshow fix, Challenge sometimes show the Pyramid Game at about 4am!
Does anyone remember the BBC3 drama Drop Dead Gorgeous, about a schoolgirl who gets scouted to become a model? I thought that was a cracking drama - disappointed they never released a DVD.

And available on DVD
i think it would have been on around 03 - 04

Excellent
I remember this! Hilarious. Geoff the cottager was my favourite bit of the show hahaha:p
Same here! Sadie and Joseph's swing routine is still one of my favourite performances on TV. Joseph used to work at my school. He's been on so many TV competitions now though.
We've got that on DVD. The estate agent episode is hilarious!
There was a BBC gameshow presented by Donny Osmond called Identity. I loved it but it only had 1 series and there's no full episodes of it on YouTube.
I also used to watch ITVs attempt at a new soap, Night and day, it got moved to the graveyard shift because no one watched it.
Dramatic pause ... "Is that your identity?"
I really liked that one too. A bit cruel on the contestants but great fun to watch.

The last is Framed. This was broadcast on BBC One in 2009, on the August Bank Holiday. It was a feature length drama which was a one off.
It stars Trevor Eve and Eve Myles, about a valubale painting that was discovered in Wales, and was then taken to a gallery in London.
It was great to watch. A R2 DVD release has not yet happened, but it has seen a R1 release in America.

Wasn't Lesley Joseph from Birds of a Feather in this? Quote me if I'm wrong, I vaguely remember that she was.

I liked that show too. It was naff but entertaining.

Am I the only person on the planet who actually enjoyed that?
Wish they'd never axed it. Yes it was OTT and a bit ridiculous but I loved it.
Yes, I think it was 2005. The presenter said at the end that there would be another series based on a fake trip to Mars but that never materialised.
Eyes Down starring Paul O'Grady, I absolutely loved this sitcom, yes it was crude, silly and highly predictable but it was always good for a turn your brain off laugh, would of sat well on BBC3 looking at what style of sitcoms they have on there now.

Ooh I remember that series vividly - Emun Elliot in his first starring role - it as surely worth a follow-up.
Look Around You was always science based, the show with an episode following an estate agent was in People Like Us.
I have that DVD, it's not a show likely to be shown again as it's star was Chris Langham.
I remember Sean Maguire was in that and Michelle Collins had a hit with the theme tune
For the rest of your Donny Osmond gameshow fix, Challenge sometimes show the Pyramid Game at about 4am!

Yes it was.
This, along with 2D TV. Two fantastic programmes that both seemed to just vanish
